Hi there,

I bought myself a new challenge. Is this a S2000 ? And my next question: How can I changes the voltage from 110 to 220 volts ?
If that is done I can work further to make the machine work again.
Thanks for the reply's

Yes, I think it is an S2000, it has the distinctive speaker "ears" that extend out from the cabinet just below the top glass, on each end of where the player tracking panel would get installed.

Here is a How-To on how to change the operating voltage for an IGT S+ machine, maybe it is similar enough to the S2000 to be of help.

Well I just plugged the power wire into the 220 volts and the machine is working  :dancing_2:
Now I get the message: Door open MB.
I checked the door optics in the belly door and the machine but they are lined up when I close the door. How to bypass those door optics ?

Well I wouldn't go bypassing anything yet, first get the machine running.  looking at your board and seeing the crust growing on the traces around the green battery I would say that your board is probably damaged.   "main door open" is a classic indication that the traces that control the optic signal are gone. you should remove the green battery and clean and neutralize the affected areas and see if that doesn't help. if it doesn't then you will probably have to replace the board.

Hi Jim,

I checked the green battery (Varta 3.6 volts) and looks fine to me. No crust. I measure 2.76 volts. Also the other battery is fine. I measure on that one 2.81 volts.

Coin battery needs to be replaced.  Should measure 3 volts. They will work to about  2.9 anything below that things start to indicate phantom issues.
Take a look at the diode leg by the Varta it is green that is evidence of leakage.  You should remove the Varta it is not needed for home use. The board looks to have other corrosion by the Varta. It may very well be damaged like Jim said above.

The green Varta battery has a bad reputation, causes lots and lots of damaged boards. And since it is not needed for home-use machines (as mentioned) it is much safer and preferred to remove it. There is no downside to removing the green Varta battery and a very good reason to do so.

I've examine the mpu board and Varta battery better today. It looks like the battery was leaking. That causes the problems as you said earlier.
I'll order a new Varta battery and coin cell, will clean the board. Hope this helps to get rid of the problems.

Thanks for the help sofa. I'll come back later when I have renewed the batteries.

Don't waste your money on a Varta battery. That board doesn't need it and most likely the board is bad.

yes, it will run without the Varta battery, it is not needed. Remove it and do not replace it. I don't know the specific reason it was on there from the factory, possible to preserve financial bookkeeping data required by casino regulators. But it is not needed for home-use machines and it will always cause a problem at some point in the future.

There are several discussion threads here on NLG about cleaning and repairing circuit boards that have battery leakage on them. Basically you use a neutralizer like vinegar or baking soda & water, scrub with a soft bristle brush.  Rinse thoroughly and let dry completely before powering it up. If there is damage to the board like copper traces eaten away then you can try to repair.

Here are a couple of the repair writeups:

You may want to start looking for a replacement board, you can ask folks here about where you might find one.

The Varta is NiMHI so it is alkaline. Neutralize area with a mild vinegar solution flush with water and dry throughly.

The Varta is used by casino it records door and cash box openings and times even with the machine unplugged. That is why you don't need it for home use. It's used so no hanky Panky occurs from techs or others.
