POG questions
« on: January 20, 2018, 10:21:56 AM »
I have a POG board here i needed to repair to get to boot. C37 which looks like it may have been a batt or super cap is missing .... What should it be a cap or batt??? with this having a RTC at U3 does it need that batt anyway ??

Next question ... as far as using LCD monitors with these.... which converter do I need ??? I built one of these once before and used the red converter board but the SW chip was different to work with the POG.. I cant find his contact info where I got that anymore...

Thanks guys

C37 is a cap. I usually use a VGA adapter, not a converter but I think it depends on your monitor choice. I use generic 3M microtouch lcd monitors.

I don't have a board nearby, I'll have to go into a machine tomorrow and look at the cap. If the megatough monitor is 3M Micro touch compatible then it should work.

The touch cable I use has to different ends, RS232 (serial) to the monitor and RJ45 to the board. Let me know if that's the one you need the pin out for. I will look in a machine tomorrow and let you know. It is not standard, the cable has been modified for the POG.

Sorry for the delay but I have been trying to post a pic from photobucket explaining what to do but it isn't working out. I'm going to try and explain it without diagrams. The serial port cable is numbered so that part is easy but the RJ45 is not. Holding the RJ45 end with the connection part pointing up and the clip away from you, we are going to number 1 to 8, left to right.

RJ45 pin 5 to serial port #2
RJ45 pin 3 to serial port #3
RJ45 pin 7 to serial port #5

Those 3 connections are all you need.
