Title: Munsters Unmountable Boot Volume error
Post by: Border01 on March 25, 2016, 09:21:12 AM
Was working great until today. Tried reloading in safe mode and tried clear chip. Same error comes up  Not sure what to do?  Lower display says waiting for video display.

Prior to this issue it would regularly have a boot disc error. Turning it off and back on would usually resolve it

Just a guess, I'm no expert on this platform, but have you checked all batteries? CMOS and Varta?

I replaced every battery about 6 weeks ago but I will test them all to make sure they are good.

By looking at the screen error it looks to me like the hard drive is corrupt.  Finding a replacement will be tough on this one unless you can find someone to make a copy of their drive. Also you cannot just copy the harddrive in these using regular Windows methods as it will write files to it and ruin the original drive.   Cowboy is right--check the battery in the top box to make sure it is OK.  If you change out the battery the top box you will have to be reprogrammed using a keyboard.  LINDAM and Qbert on here know a lot the about the Reel Touch.  I haven't worked on one in some time now so my memory is vague on a lot of this.  Good luck.

I suspect a hard drive issue as well. I am going to retest the top box battery first

Top battery tested good @ 3.22v. Any one out there have a reel touch hard drive for the Munsters?

Try plugging in the keyboard turn the machine on and hit the delete key a few times to get into the CMOS bios screen. Press and save the optimized defaults. (Remember we did this before). Then see if it comes up although I doubt it.
My guess with everyone else is HD went south.
