Title: ReeL Touch top monitor does not light
Post by: BALLIGATOR on December 03, 2016, 10:22:55 AM
hey,

The top monitor does not light.

The power supply is ok ( tested  in another RTouch), the power supply behind the reels as well.

"Waiting for video signal " in the display is all I got.

Top fan works whereas the fan close to the battery inside the box does not work...  Let me know if I am not accurate enough.

Any ideas???   Thanks a lot

Was it working before this happened or did you buy it this way???

I got it this way.

The top power supply, which works, is not an original one, it was made with a computer power supply.

The monitor remains black, no colours either around it.

You might check your top box battery, make sure all plugs in the back of top box are making good connection (you may want to reseat them) and make sure the hard drive is running and your hard drive harness is seated well.  I just spent days and days getting my Tabasco running with help from Qbert.  Reel touch machines can be frustrating at times, but we should be able to get you through it.

Any idea why the fan is not working?

They do collect a lot of dirt.  Make sure it is clean and check the cable connection.  I have had to replace 2 or 3 so they do burn out.  But get the dirt out first.  Is the fan on the top working?

yep, the top one works.

How do I know the hard drive is running? Sorry if my questions sound stupid.

We have no stupid questions here, so you are good to go.  You can actually open the back of the top box, get close enough and listen carefully and you can hear it running. You can also feel it with a touch of the fingers.

Is a cd supposed to be inside?

Not necessary.  I have never had a CD in my Ducks or Tabasco.

I will take time to inspect the machine tomorrow.  I think some power is missing to start the monitor.

OK, try the few things we mentioned and if the hard drive is running you are getting power so be sure to check all connections. Make sure power is off before pulling and re plugging all the connections.

The first and most important thing with a T/T top box is....if you don't get the video BEEP when you turn the machine on Your issues can be major. Parts for these are all but impossible to find. The little sub board on the M/B must work for video. If it's bad, good luck finding one.

I noticed a leaking capacitor on the top board.  It has leaked on itself, not on the board. I will post a pic in a moment.  That could be the culprit, couldn't it?

You've got other bulged caps around that on also and I believe they are all the same value. Are they the problem? Possibly   Do they need replaced whether they are the problem or not? Absolutely
