software - usable or not?
« on: June 03, 2017, 10:43:35 AM »
I've got a couple questions for the software experts out there. The first question is regarding class 2 software. Does it have any useful purpose to anyone outside of a casino environment? I've ended up with a couple sets of games and os and I wanted to check before I discarded them.
Secondly I'm wondering about the software version for the Quick Hits s9000 5r game White Fire. I've seen 2 versions, one of which has the 5 reels backlit all the time like the game Cherry Red does. The other version only backlights winning combinations like most of the older Quick Hit games. My question is how do I know which version has the reels backlit full time? That's the one I want.

I always wanted to tackle Class 2 software but you need a server and program in the backend to run them. The bingo patterns determine where the reels will land and the bingo balls are drawn from a central server. Even if you were able to run class 2, I believe you would have to have 2 or more to run it as all the machines are competing with each other. Downside to class 2 games are that they have an crappy feel to them. They dont seem as polished as Class 3 games. Sound effects suck. Just poorly converted. Feels like a bad port of the game. Glitchy!

Only reason I want to get Class 2 to work is so I can plan Aristocrat games on my Bally Alpha...lol

For the Quick Hit games, There is a batch of these at Aria in Las Vegas running all of them with the lights on.. Even using WMS style OLED button decks. Most quick hit have part numbers like ASGXXXXX-00... I am thinking the newer backlit ones have 2XXXXX or 3XXXXX? Maybe these were updated to look better on an Alpha 2 steppers. Just speculating, Maybe someone knows better than my guesses.

Yeah I kinda figured the class 2 stuff was useless but they were good game titles and I wanted to be absolutely sure before I tossed them.

I've already went ahead and ordered the quick hit kit from lasco so I just have to wait and see which software they send. If what I get doesn't have the reels backlit (I'm sure it won't) then at least I'll know that software part# and can start looking for the newer version. The only reason I want the backlit reels is because the machine right next to it has Cherry Red which of course does have the backlights and it's driving me crazy that one has them and one doesn't.. I know, I know, silly right?

Thanks for the reply.
