My "new" CEI MPU board - not sure what version...

Cheese, I hate this getting old crap; I mean, it's really getting old.
(My grand-dad used to say, "The second thing that goes is your memory; and I can't remember the first thing. Thank God Grandma can't either!)

I just remembered that MUX is Omega's (and many others') term for MultiPlex, ie: connection to-  or through- another computer via some interconnection scheme. And that on their final boards (906 III & up) they offered casinos the ability to hook up a CEI video slot to their in-house information tracking system.

They did this by installing, (wait for it.....) an optional MUX board!

Your machine, in which you are trying out this board, probably does not have a MUX board; but the board (and/or eprom game-set software) is configured for it.

With this remembrance in mind, and another glass of wine in hand, I did a search on the old NLG site.  Here is a link to one in which the hapless CEI owner has a MUX error. And guess what: it's on a Gamblers Choice!

So check it out; from  reading it, perhaps your dead battery is a good thing.

{...and then I realized the CEI Moderator had brought this one forward, so a search for MUX on the current NLG or the old site would have zeroed you in on the same posting... :facepalm:}

Okay ... INTERESTING news here.
I replaced the battery and ... hold breath ... plugged the new board into my CEI machine - flipped it on and it went through a short boot up process. It wanted information added (date, etc). I was able to bypass that and it booted up to a working "The Gambler's Series" machine as stated by Solid Silver!
So, the good news is that the board works. And now I have four games to play, and the graphics are much nicer too! The bad news is that my buttons are slightly off! Well the other good news is that the screen at least points to the HIT and STAND buttons but the rest aren't matched properly. I did figure them out though. Other thing is all my card buttons say DISCARD but the  word HOLD is above them! I'm really happy it worked though but I don't think I want to leave it this way. It would be nice if I could cannibalize some of the chips and make my existing/working MPU board better but I don't know if that's possible.

Hey nice job..  :applause:  Your going to be a CEI expert at this rate. I have a machine just like yours in the garage standing in line to be checked over. I have most of the pieces to put it back together.. I need a MPU tray that the board mounts too, but other then that I think it's complete.

If any one knows of any CEI machines or parts just laying around, I'd be interested if talking a deal..

Great job Mark. Grab a glass of wine any enjoy it..

Gary
