That's an MEI validator. Billdern has one in another post and said to pull on the yellow top and up to remove it. Try taking it out and reseat it and see if it will take bills then. You may have to enable the validator with a key chip if it's not set up in the machine. I don't remember on S2000s.

The board behind the head is the interface board with a toggle switch that hangs down on bottom.  Depending on game some use 2-toggles hanging-Yours should just have one.  The prongs do come off and at that point will not depress the switch on the interface board.

How do you know if the bill validators up to date with the software and how do you update it?

That's easy -if your game is on line-working-try new or old bill's -easy to figure then. -If it needs to be up-dated you will prob. have to send it out.  They use a "bannana" on them with the new program.  Some vendors may offer you a exchange if this is your prob.  Find some older bills and try?.

The bill validator was working initially until I messed with the key chip. Now it has all three lights lit. :Scratch-Head:

That's a spectronics unit it can not be used as a stand alone and will not work for you. Since you already have the Mikhon meter and power supply you just need a cham II plus or cham II stand alone ( they are the same thing) board. Check Rudys deals or one of the other vendors here my have one for sale.

What is the current status of your machine? Any progress or are you still wrestling with the bv or key settings?

I rekeyed it and got a alarm. I need to reset it with the reset key that I ordered, should be here any day now. I'm hoping the bill validator will come back.
The Display not working would not cause the bill validator not to work right? The machine says waiting for netplex devices when it goes though it's initialization.

BV and display not connected per your question.
If you can't wait for the key you can momentarily connect the wires from the back of the key switch. This would stimulate a key turn each time you connect them.

Does the machine currently have any tilts/errors? Green flashing is remedied by "Correct Network Error", according to a post on the Archive site.

You need to give us more info. It's really hard to help you when we don't know details. Do you know FOR A FACT, the bill validator you bought is for your machine?

Try Manually doing a net-plex config. in your menu options, as Cv stated we don't know what you have -for a s-2000 it needs to be a 6602 if it's a mei.
