IGT S2000 and Vision Games / Re: Display Netplex Link Down and no LEDs on CPU« Last post by Stayouttadabunker on Today at 05:41:46 AM »That was good that you checked the power voltages on the power connecting Molex on the bottom of the backplane.
It certainly shows that your power supply is fine Mark. 1st off, that may just be an informational message and not really an "error"? Try checking that 2-wire black/red power harness that runs down to the VFD driver board attached to the back of the door panel. The driver board is the one with the ribbon cable running up to the VFD display. You will notice it has a black and red 2-pin harness powering it up. Disconnect the 2-pin black harness plastic plug by depressing the housing latch inwards to release it from the header socket. Turn the cabinet's power switch ON, and check with your multimeter the voltage coming out of the harness. Finally, it's NOT good that the MPU LEDs aren't coming on. That pretty signifies some sort of possible fatal fault on the MPU. Why isn't the MPU getting power although your backplane is powered up? Do you have a 50X series MPU, a 1270 MPU, or 044 version MPU? Also, certain backplanes have a pair of blue fuses....check those if your backplane has them. The problem with burnt fuses is that, it takes a short somewhere, to blow one. 7

I have not pulled the monitor. I think I'm going to go ahead and just put an LCD in and be done with it. The machine was never put in commercial operation and always used in a private environment so it's in pristine condition that's why I'm going to just bite the bullet and upgrade the monitor. You can send the monitor chassis to K-Lar they can repair the board. 8
Aristocrat Video Gaming Machines / Aristocrat Caribbean Gold II - MK4« Last post by mtgedney on Today at 05:40:39 AM »Greatings all. Long time lurker, first time poster. I picked up a MK4 Caribbean Gold II that is currently working. I've repaired a lot of arcade machines but never dabbled in slot machines. I was surprised there was not more documentation available for these games. No manuals or wiring diagrams, or general information, as it took some time to figure out this was referred to a MK4 or 540 system. Is there a place with more information out there?
This machine powers on, lights up, makes a few sounds but that is it. No display. I was also surprised these were CGA monitors in the mid-90s (is there an isolation transformer in these for the crt?). Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. 9

IGT S2000 and Vision Games / Re: S2000 VFD Question« Last post by Stayouttadabunker on Today at 05:25:24 AM »Yes...you can replace that with the more modern VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) version.
The black and red power harness would be plugged instead into the VFD driver board, as well as the 5-pin data harness with the green colored wires. All you would need to do is remove the 2 Philips screws holding the present VFD display, swap it out with the newer type, secure theisplay with the 2 screws, and attach the ribbon cable between the new display and the new driver board. Have fun! |
