I was told the official name is:  IL VGT Bally Game Suite 5 V32 Velocity

IL VGT =  Illinois Video Gaming Terminal

I was also told it wouldn't play as a stand alone. Not sure why it wouldn't?
I personally believe it would play on an Alpha 2 Pro v32

Thanks for the info.  Yes, I agree.  I believe it would play stand alone as well on the Alpha 2 Pro.  The problem is, I dont think anyone has this game in their personal collection.  I am curious if anyone on this site has it..  If so can you confirm that it will play standalone.

Video Gaming Terminal means central determination usually.  Class II slot.

Hi if it is a class 2 it would probably be in an Indian casino. At least in Alabama the Indian casinos have class 2 slots with the bingo card.

If any body on here is from Illinois and have seen this machine anywhere please pipe in?

Thanks

Rick is correct:

From the IL gaming board:
The Video Gaming Act was enacted in July 2009, authorizing the placement of up to five Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) in licensed Retail Establishments, Truck Stops, Veteran and Fraternal Establishments. The VGTs are all connected to and monitored by a Central Communications System.

So when he said its a Central Determination that means it needs to be connected to a network otherwise it wont play.

I believe what Rick said is correct (or mostly correct).

https://www.igb.illinois.gov/VideoLaw.aspx

They can be Class 3 but still required by the gaming board to be connected to a central computer. When disconnected from this central computer system they become disabled and will not work. If this Bally machine is sold in a different jurisdiction (Las Vegas??) it might be a stand-alone version, but the ones in Illinois are configured as "Terminals". On a Class II machine you are competing against the other slot machine players in the casino or casino network, ala the "Bingo" game card setup. I think this is a different thing than having a Class 3 machine configured as a remote terminal.

As far as I know, anytime you see the word "Terminal" in the description or name of a slot machine it means it has to be connected to a controlling centralized computer system. This eliminates the state from having to worry about machines being operated independently, which could cheat the state from their part of the revenue the machine takes in. Machines can't be resold or stolen and operated in a hidden illegal casino like somebody's warehouse or basement. Not that I would want it to happen, but it is surprising that all states don't have this requirement. I guess Nevada has enough another controls in place that the state trusts the casinos accounting data.

I could be wrong but it doesn't seem logical that Bally would design a machine and develop this game software, then limit it to only being sold in Illinois. So keep an eye out, sometime it might be in other casinos somewhere that the "Terminal" configuration is not required. And in a different jurisdiction the top award probably wouldn't be $500, that's likely a limit imposed by Illinois gaming board. In Las Vegas the top award would no doubt be a lot higher.

But further reading on the SG (Bally) website makes it look like these Velocity machine models are designed solely for use as a terminal, not a stand-alone machine.

https://www.sggaming.com/games/scientificgames/Illinois%20VGT

The way the marketing hype reads to me is that in states that have a state lottery then these "terminal" type of slot machines can get approved since they are connected to a state-run or supervised central computer, same as the lottery the state already has. So in states that have a lottery Bally can sell these machines, even if the state doesn't allow casino type slot machines. These machines are just a modern electronic form of the already existing lottery ticket system, so getting approval isn't hard.

If you are familiar with how Class II slot machines work, they are really a bingo game running under the guise of a slot machine, the bingo game winners are determined quick enough to display as a winning spin on the slot machine. Bingo is an old game often used for gambling and Class II slot machines are just modern forms of playing bingo. I think these Bally Velocity machines are doing something similar but instead of bingo they use a lottery game to determine winners. It's all done fast enough that you think your spins on the machine are real-time independent and your own. But really you are just playing a series of lottery games one after the other, over the state's lottery network.  just my thoughts,,,,,,,
