universal ultra 1996
« on: June 16, 2016, 07:51:11 PM »
Not sure where to start. The fluorescent lights come on, no sound,  no led lights, none of the little bulbs come on,  handle won't pull. First guy that I contacted in my area told me I bought a big paper weight but I'm not discouraged. I will get it working eventually. Any suggestions where to start?

Open the door, then open the mpu door. Press the three little buttons on the front right side of the board. (Two are bigger.) Press these three and hold them down while powering up the machine. Right next to those three buttons are four little red LED's. They should light up and then blink left to right after startup. If they don't light up you have a problem. I'm guessing they won't light up or maybe all are flashing at the same time.

Pull the board and check the battery area (back right). Look for corrosion on the board. Battery damage is common.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM with the Ultra Series is the mpu board connection to the backplane!!! Get a little soft brass brush (Walmart) and electronic parts cleaner (Autozone).
Pull the board and spray all the pins. Use the soft brass brush to clean the pins. Make sure brush is soft, don't bend pins! Make sure no brass brisels are left behind on pins.
Then spray the backplane pin holes. Don't worry about overspray, it will evaporate. Hit it good! Then insert the board in and out of the backplane a few times while still wet with cleaner. Let everything dry and then insert the board. Press evenly on both sides on the board to get it seated. Now, when powering up you will need to push those three buttons, but put your thumb under the board so it doesn't flex down. Power it up and see if there is an improvement.

Uniman. I spoke with someone about my slot machine. It's called.Double lighting. I had a jackpot that played out but didn't have enough coins to pay out. So the machine was unplugged. The battery was just replaced and still won't work. I tried to follow your directions for.Ultra machine. Can't find 3 little white buttons.  Could you be able to help me resolve this. Sincerely yours Reneeluzik

First, let me rant a bit and start out by saying; If you want to get your machine up and running as fast as possible then you need to take the time and explain step by step how your machine got where it's at. That way I can try and narrow down the problem for you.

First impression was you just bought it and it doesn't work. Now, it was working, had a jackpot that didn't finish and was shutoff. Somewhere in there the battery was changed.

Ok, was the battery changed after it stopped working? Or was the battery changed and it was working with the new battery?

And look below at my pic. You can see the reset buttons on the right. Two small white and one larger blue. Follow the above instructions and tell me what the red leds are doing.
