Ceronix 1793 help needed
« on: November 10, 2016, 06:26:13 PM »
I am not sure if there is any hope of fixing or not, I have a i-game with the Ceronix 1793 chassis setup. I bought it without seeing a demo, but was told that the monitor was jumping, he showed me the horizontal width inductor towards the right rear of the board was broken and flopping, he said the company he bought the machine from, told him that was the problem. I brought the game home, plugged it in and had no picture at all, and no signs of monitor life. I bought a replacement inductor from ceronix, to replace the broken one, installed it, but still had nothing but a black screen. the only thing different is that I now have a chirping sound from the monitor area, does anyone have any ideas on a fix ?

thanks

I know on the 1492 Ceronix that I would check the diodes around the flyback.. If they are good I would think the flyback is bad..

Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

O.K. Additional info on this problem, I bought a rebuilt Monitor board and Neck Board assembly, installed it and I have the same exact symptoms, no picture at all, and I have a ticking/clicking sound. Any input on my next step ? I know it is not a problem with the rest of the machine due to the fact that I can swap in a different monitor and it works perfect. is there a way to troubleshoot the picture tube itself ?
 thanks

I actually changed the Isolation Transformer on the side of the monitor chassis, it comes on now, but it is so blurry that you cant see anything clearly

thanks Proten, I actually adjusted the focus, it helped, but it still looks crappy, the color is weak and picture is not as bright as it should be. I would like to swap it to LCD, but I dont have the extra $500 to do it, and I am quite sure that no one has a complete CRT assembly ready to slide in and replace mine

Sounds like you my just need the tube.
But LCD is the way to go, less heat and better picture.

I would try and adjust the high voltage on the flyback, sounds like it is turned up too high to me, this can cause blurring focus and weak picture clarity.
