Bally V5500 Scrambled Raster (video screen)
« on: September 06, 2017, 03:49:16 PM »
I'm working on a Bally V5500 Video Poker machine for a friend. I was having a problem just getting a picture due to a loose connection between the MPU and mother board. I replaced the mother board and now have a tight board connection, but it now has a scrambled picture. The screen picture seems to be rolling, it's not a fixed picture. I tried to clean and reseat any EPROMs in sockets. That didn't help. I'm now stumped where to turn next? I'm wondering if my problem lays with the Ceronix 1492 chassis, or with a bad chip or socket on the MPU.

make sure the cpu is firmly attached to back plane - none of the contacts are broken - next check the power supply - lastly a clear chip should fix.

Did you check the battery on the main board?
That is what keeps the settings in memory
when the machine is off.

In my shop the board cleared and played fine so it's something inside his game cabinet.
I wish I had the whole game in the shop so I could dig through it.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

cpu must be seated into backboard - give the cpu extra shove with palms of hands
