Tatung VT1770 monitor out on Game Maker Evo
« on: July 06, 2014, 04:39:13 PM »
I have a Bally Gamemaker V7217ST (Evo) with the Tatung VT17827M21LH monitor, also labeled VT1770, manufactured in late 2003.

The monitor recently went out after turning the machine off and on a couple of times.  Flickering, some static discharge in the back, and a nice smell of burning something.

It may be one of the parts that you commonly hear about that blow (cap, rectifier?, transformer, etc), but I don't know how to troubleshoot the board on this unit.  I am technically savvy -- I just don't know much about CRTs.

Can anyone help with schematics, advice, or point me to a repair shop where I can mail in the board for repair?

Thanks.  John

Thanks -- that's a great reference to have if I'm going to try to troubleshoot the board.

You don't also happen to have a pinout diagram for the monitor chassis connector plug by any chance, do you?   I have the monitor sitting on a workbench in the garage, and I'd like to try powering it up there so I can get a better look at the circuit boards in the back as it's doing it's thing.

Thanks.  John

In the schematics section of the Game Maker manual is the pinout for every connector.

It should be in the downloads section.

Thanks ... Do you mean the "NLG File System" link?  When I select that it tells me that I don't have access to the downloads.

Thanks.  John
