PSP 3.0/CHAMII+ Message Commands - Help!
« on: August 12, 2015, 06:49:11 AM »
Guys - I'm in the final phases of uploading messages using PSP 3.0 (Referencing the 2.0 Manual though) to the CHAMII+ as it stands separated completely from the machine.  Finally got messages loaded to the JPOT.DO file and displaying, but the final thing that I can't seem to figure out are some of the fancier "Effect Definition Command Symbols". Been working as directed Here:
http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=739.0
And Here:
http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=732.0
SO I'm trying to get the Dance (Shift+F3) and the Paint (Shift+F2) working, but can't seem to get them to behave the way they should.  But, when the original progressive jackpot string (The default string that exists in JPOT.DO) runs displaying the dollar amount, it seems to dance correctly.
See the picture where I call all my friends "losers".  I'm thinking these should dance.

I'm on my cell phone so I can't really see your program message. The dance command will appear different if it is stationary or if it is scrolling across in a message. Pretty much if it is scrolling it will just appear as multi colored words.
 Is this the issue?

So I'm using a Start Paragraph/Block Motion/Speed Command (4)/Dance Command/text.  What I get is static text with each letter a different color, but they don't change, shuffle through the green, yellow, red to create the dance effect.  I wonder if I'm missing another command that triggers it to "dance".

I think that is pretty much what qbert is saying. They can't dance and scroll at the same time. The dance effect is the color change moving right to left for each character. If the letters are in motion from right to left, the color change is not detected because the letters are moving to the next segment. If you look close, you will most likely see that the segments are actually "dancing". Look at the individual segment not the individual letter. Now my head hurts from trying to say what I mean.

I still think he should be able to get multi color words.
Maybe too many paragraphs I'll have to play with one of my chamII's later this week and try some stuff.

It sounds like he is getting multi colored words. They don't appear to be dancing because the color change of each letter is following the scroll movement.

Sorry for not updating sooner.  Though I have made no progress after being up late last night.
I did notice that when I ran the demo, I was not getting Dance, Paint or Flash to work at all.  Which makes me wonder if it might be a setting in the CHAMII+ itself.  Maybe a font setting or something else that keeps these particular functions from running the way the should.

I did start with "Block Motion" (F2) which from what I am reading is not a motion really but is supposed to "display on the sign instantly" Which it does.  Then a speed command (I've tried it without as well) then I put the "Dance" command right in front of the text, as described in the manual.  I've tried just about every way imaginable with no luck.  But strangely enough the dollar amount of the progressive jackpot dances just fine.

It's been ages since I've done ChamII+ programming, but I do recall for sure that I never got the "flash" command to work, ever.  I can't remember if I had issues with the dance or paint commands, but it's possible that those didn't work for me, either.

Just for grins try moving the progressive jackpot command to the beginning of your string.

Good thought. Taking a little break though since my power supply went south on me. I'll let you know though.
