« on: December 09, 2015, 07:34:02 PM »
Need help....
I am getting a 88FF error code on a Bally 6000 slot. What needs to be done to correct this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Error code 88 is a Catastrophic failure.  Usually you need to do a SafeRAM clear to get rid of it.  Do your candle and button lights flash as well?

I will check the battery and do the ram clear. It is on a machine that I recently sold that is having the problem.

I have another board that I wanted to find out if it was good or not, and tried to check it out on the machine mentioned above sometime before I sold the machine. I did a ram clear and it showed that it was okay, but when I put the game chips in to the board and tried to play the machine, lights flashed and the game did not work. I only mentioned this because of the earlier reply when I was asked if the lights and buttons flashed.  Is there something else that would need to be done when this happens? I would just like to know, before I go over to try to do the ram clear on the machine that I sold, in case I run into a similar problem.
Thanks in advance for any input.

The flashing buttons/candle correspond to the 88 error code.  Depending on the flashes per second it gives a little more detail on the error.
1 Flash per second - Main Eprom Checksum Error
2 Flashes per second - Personality Eprom Checksum Error
4 flashes per second - Volatile RAM and/or Non Volatile Ram read/write failure
Continuous - Battery Low

I did a complete ram clear and it cleared. Then, I still was unable to play the game. A series of numbers, I think it was something like 10.01 showed up and I was wondering what to do next. I remembered seeing something about pressing the change light in another posting and tried that. Then the 50 (door open ) code came up. I closed the door and the game plays again. I still don't understand why the 10.01 or whatever it was came up after the ram cleared. Anyway, all is good, at least for the moment.
Thanks for all of the help!

After a clear with the clear chips (Don't forget to turn DIP switch 8 back off), or with the permanent easy clear chips, when you power up let the reels do their complete dance.

You will then see numbers relating to the date and time - ignore those and simply press the cash out button.

You should then get a 50 code (door open), close the door and play.

Hello all, finally getting ready to move all my machines to the new game room.  Powered up the bally and got 88ff.  Anyone know where I can get the clear chips from?  Also it's been sitting for a while but had been plugged in, so if I if the battery is dead?  I don't even know where the battery is on this thing.
