Hello All, This might  sound like a silly question but how does the machine select wins? Is it the Odds relay unit? Is it the number of coin drops from the Meter in unit?  After you hit a big win does the machine reset the odds for that combination to hit back to zero? I know you can put a short bolt on the reel slots so the wiper arm skips over the slot which prevents a win but did the factory set this function originally.

The odds on the machine are set by the number of symbols on the reels 22 symbols on each reel 22 X 22 X 22 is the odds if you have 1 symbol ie7 on a reel just 17 on a trio that would be your odds of hitting it it is a mechanical Spin and mechanical stop machine

ok so I counted all the symbols 20x20x20 and if I have 1 star on each reel then I multiply 3 x 20=60?

20 times 20 times 20 equals 8000 means you have a one-in-a-thousand chance of hitting Stars you made it 10 times in 5 minutes and you may not hit it again for 6 months I have one machine I have never hit the jackpot on I've had it for two and a half years
Most of my machines I hit the jackpot in the first week but I play the heck out of them when I get them running
Before I sell a machine I have to pull the handle 15000 times without a glitch

Ahh Ha! I thought you had to multiply all the reels but 8000 seemed like a lot of handle pulls, but now it makes sense! I have hit that jackpot 2 twice since I got the slot in May so looks like I have a way to go! It crazy you have not hit your jackpot in 2 plus years and now I can understand the slot addiction in all of its glory! we play both machines 7 days a week and average about 2-300 pulls at session so 15,000 pulls doesn't seem all that bad!! Thanks for the insight

Machine pays at random, payouts are by chance as the reel stop arms drop into the slots. The less there is of a symbol the grater the odds of getting 3 on line. There are 2 basic variators that keep the machine from repeating payouts. The ratchet wheels and the fan. The ratchet wheel has the most positive effect as it changes the length on shafts and levers on every play. The fan is effected by air pressure and temperature.
I wouldn't recommend this but, if you wanted to change the odds slightly to more frequent and higher pays.
A file on the reel disc might cause the stop arm to drop in a deeper slot. But then you loose a bit of the lower paying shallow slot. So its probably a wash. One of these days when I come across a set of reel disc that match one of my machines I may give the theory a try. Again I highly recommend NOT to do this to a perfectly good set of reel disc in a perfectly good machine.

More good information David ,when I performed the maintenance on the B switch I did set the timer link to its longest stoke by turning the variatior counter clockwise until the scrambler arm reached it shortest length and made sure the B switch made contact until it cleared the timer ramp. Not sure if that had any effect on the payouts but now I  see why the casinos added the multi-coin slots to make more money-Thank you
