Title: 044 question
Post by: wizeone on September 21, 2017, 07:14:45 AM
are 044 boards (mainly the flash boards) that fragile that converting a UBA to MEI would cause it to go into a zero check failure? (yes the power was off when swapping the validators)

is there any way to recover a flash board that has that error?

thanks in advance

044 flash boards are fragile, but changing the validator is probably not something that would cause that.  There is no way to fix a zero check failure without re-flashing the board, and even that doesn't work sometimes.

When you say there is a zero check failure, what exactly do you mean?  Are you getting an actual message, or is it just freezing up during the check?

Zero check failure is a common 044 error that happens when the flash board go bad.  It happens toward the end when the cabinet is booting up verifying the flash board.

thanks for the replies.  was hoping someone would confirm what someone told me that key-chipping and clearing ram/e2 might bring it back around.

what would be a normal price to replace the gk003448 flash board?

Key chip won't work.

Price .. aftermarket burned flash boards is the cheapest route. Might be able to find them for $350 plus

Original probably triple that.

Are you getting an error message, or freezing during Zero check?  If it is freezing then all you need is a new green battery (or removal of it).

its an error message and the telltale battery is not present

Zero Check is not fixable other than re-flashing, and sometimes that doesn't work.  Sorry for the bad news.
