Canadian to US currency
« on: April 16, 2014, 06:13:30 AM »
I have a IGT I game that I need to convert from Canadian currency to US currency. The machine has a Mars BV. Can anyone tell me what has to be done for the conversion? I am guessing I will need a new or different bill head but I am wondering if I have to change anything in the game program. The Mars, MEI, BV that's in the game now works great but I need to convert.  Thanks.

I believe the MARS validators are universal, you probably just need to flash the head and you should be good to go.  You probably have a Cashflow 6602?

8342 is listed as an international model.  You are probably better off just buying a new 6602 head and be done with it.  They can be found on e-bay for around $35 to $40 since you already have the transport and cash can.  I don't know if the 8342 has the magnetic sensors needed for US currency.

66xx series are USA
8xxx series are International

As Rick points out it would be cheaper for you to pick up a 6602 Head off of EBay or one of the many vendors here are NLG

I got a new BV for my game but I haven't had the time to install it yet. I will reply to this post once I do. The one I have in the game now will not work with a S+. The S+ never supported a Mars. Thanks.

I got the correct Mars BV in the shop and installed it in the game that had the Canadian BV. All I had to do was clear the Mismatch and everything is working fine. Thanks for all the help. Bill.

Hi all

I find this bezel on CVslots. Actually i am looking lightning bezels for my Igt s+ machine.

What do you thinks is this gonna work with my Igt S+ . I ve Mars BV .

Sentry Smart LED Bezel - IGT S2000

Super cool LED lighted bezel! Icons indicate last bill inserted, full cash box, and errors. LED lights cycle and fade at idle.

Plug and play installation. Powered by bill validator. Works with WBA and MEI validators.

Andy,

I don't know a lot about the Mars bill validators, but ......

1. if you have a JCM DBV or WBA you need the whole validator not just the head.
2. A s2000 head valiator won't work in a S+ unless you change the protocol.
- The S+ and S2000 use different communication protocols.
- On the WBA this is selectable by a dip switch - but the software for the newer colored $5 was never updated for the S+ - the same head could validate new $5 for the S2000 but not the S+

I think in an earlier posts we identified a protocol adapter which would allow a S2000 head (which would support all new currencies) to work with an S+ by converting protocols. I have never tried or invested.
