I picked up 2 PE+ uprights. I am working on the first machine now & will keep the 2 machines discussed in separate threads.
I have gotten the keys, replaced the door optics, fixed the monitor and gotten it off of the "Out of Service" mode.
Unfortunately no matter what I try I cannot get it to clear the last tournament game played so I can play it. It shows 2400 plus credits and paid out 25 credits.
I have gone into the menu and changed the timer, credits, tournament pulse and anything else that looked like it could or should get me to be able to restart but nothing.
I have downloaded many manuals for this machine but none of them tell much if anything regarding tournament mode. I have been unable to find user manual for the machine. From what I can tell there are actually 7 manuals for the PE+ and I think the one that I need is "Game Software"
The chips in it are "PE-PLUS POKER PP0188 A53-A7T" and "CG2004"
I am going to replace the battery on the board over the weekend even though it seems fine.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated

In normal game play - a machine will pay out to the hopper limit. Then go into hand pay mode. Or if the hopper runs out of coins it will give a hopper empty error. You use the jackpot reset key on the side of the machine to clear the hand pay.

Whats curious to me is that normally tournament games are cashless. You either play for xx credits or xx time. The one with the most credits on the machine at the end of the session is the winner. The attendant then comes by and uses the reset key to clear the machine and set it up for the next game. In otherwords I would not expect to see a partial credit payout.

I don't have an tournament PE+ chips for my system, but my S+ tournament games have two modes. The first is regular game play and the second is tournament mode. Perhaps the PE+ is the same and you currently are in normal play.

Changing the battery is likely not going to help if your not getting a battery low message but if the cmos is corrupt then what you need to do is run a clear chip through the system. If you have recently replaced the battery this could explain the cmos corruption.

It does show it is in Tournament, shows the timer run down to zero and the total credits earned.
I have not replaced the battery yet on it and there is now "Battery Low" error showing.
I have tried the reset key and all that it has done is scroll thru I am guessing an Audit menu showing stats.

I am very new to this and have seen mentions of a clear chip but do not have one or even know what to do if I did. I see them for sale on ebay, some are a single chip and others are a set of chips. What exactly do I need to look for and how do I use it?

The machine has been sitting unused by the person I bought it from for about a year and he never did anything with it other than let it just sit in the corner of his garage unplugged. He knew nothing about the machine, I think he got it from a storage auction or something like that.

I am considering trying to find out how to change it to Non-tournament but will need to find some more buttons for it and hook up the coin and hopper mechs. But I would like to try it this way first.

If your getting into audit screens via the reset key then your likely not in handpay mode.
Just note the behavior of the reset key is different depending if the door is open or closed.

Depending on what board you have you either have one or two chips in your PE+
The super board has a Program and a Data chip and the Standard board only has the Program chip.

In either case you replace the Program chip with the clear chip, put the board back in press the white button, a counter will appear while it is wiping the machine then when its done you put your program chip back in. This resets all of the settings so your bill validator won't work any more. Subsequently you will also want to grab a set chip at the same time as you will need this to re-activate your bill validator. The chip works the same way - replace your program chip with the set chip.  Follow the on screen instructions to tell the bill validator what denomination your slot is using.

I would encourage you to use one of the vendors on the main page of this site vs random ebay person - call them as they may not have the chips listed. Let them know you were referred from NLG.

From the PSR manual for A53-A7T:

Tournament Game Switching:
Entering and exiting the tournament mode may be done externally
during the game’s idle state (door closed). Turn and hold the jackpot
reset switch and press the Change switch. Once the reset switch and
Change switch are released, the game switching is complete.
Tournament parameters may be set in the self test mode.

Tournament Reset Feature:
The tournament mode may be reset while the door is closed and a
tournament game is in progress. Turn and hold the jackpot reset switch
and press the Deal-Spin-Start player switch. Once the reset switch and
the Deal-Spin-Start player switch are released, the game will be in the
tournament idle mode with the time and credits reset.

Though the same methods "should" work for any program version that supports Tournament mode including those programs on a Superboard including but not limited to: XP000035, XP000037, XP000074 and XP000084

Hopefully that should fix your issues  :Tongue_Out:

That worked.

I now have the first machine working and played it for a while last night.
The Draw/Hold buttons are not working consistently and I have ordered a new set of buttons for it. As soon as they here I will get them swapped out and add the ones that are not there as well. I needed to do that anyway for when I get all of the coin stuff working.
I did notice that there are 3 wires going to 4 of the 5 Hold button switches and the 5th switch only has 2 wires, my other machine is the same way. I do not see a stray wire any place

One thing that I have not figured out yet is why there is no sound. I have turned to volume wheel on the system board and nothing. I have verified that the sound is setup in the test menu. I see a speaker on the system board and another in the lower part of the door. I just do not know how to figure this one out yet.

Thank you for all of your help so far, I do not think that I would have gotten this far without everyone's help here.

The buttons are wired in series, and the fifth hold button is the last one in that series, so that's why there's one less wire.

The sound should be coming out of the speaker on the door. The MPU board should not have a speaker on it. You might want to check for disconnected speaker wires -- it's possible that the casino had disconnected them to reduce noise in the tournament area.

The Draw/Hold buttons are not working consistently and I have ordered a new set of buttons for it.

I should mention, too, that since the buttons are wired in series, you cannot press all of them at the same time to hold all the cards, for example.  You must press (and also release) the buttons one at a time in order for them to work.

The first page of the self test menu (press the white self-test button once) is the Self Test Inputs page.  On that page, you can test the button functionality by pressing each button, and watching the 0 turn to a 1.  If you're holding a button and don't get a solid 1, you might have a faulty switch (less likely) or loose/poor connection wiring (more likely).
