1990s Twilight Zone slot machine?
« on: September 22, 2017, 05:33:57 PM »
Forgive me if my mind is misremembering, but wasn't there a Twilight Zone slot machine in the late 1990s, around the same time Creature from the Black Lagoon was released? I swear I remember playing it in Reno, and thinking some people might be weirded out by it. Like from the twirling spiral reel stops.

YouTube has videos of an "OLD" Twilight Zone slot, but it has a bonus wheel—and I remember the slot being like a standard 3902 game, with no wheel.

Could I have played a prototype game that was never widely released?

Help me, NLG. I think I've unlocked the door with the key of imagination!

I've not seen one but I don't play the video slots much. Here is something from an online place about it. It's a popular theme, it was used on a terrific pinball machine so I wouldn't be surprised to see a slot machine with this theme. And once IGT paid the licensing fee they may have used it in different versions on different machines.

Yeah, those are fancy schmancy high-def versions. I can vaguely remember those cutting-edge 1990s pixels!

Did you wear the goofy 3-D glasses to get the full effect?   :garfield:

The TZ pinball machine came out in 1993. When did the TZ slot machine hit the casinos?

It came out before I met my future wife, which was 2001. (She's one of the people I said would be "weirded out" by the slot.) So I'm guessing 1999 or 2000, around the time the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" slot machine was released.

Apologies everyone, I found a video of the game I was thinking of. The game looks like a 3902-style board, but the machine does feature a wheel. I guess I never got the bonus and activated the wheel when I played the machine. What kind of machine is this? And I suppose it's not available for sale anywhere?

Here's the video:
