S+ machine drops quarters to hopper but they won't register?

I have an S+ machine that when I drop a quarter in, it just goes straight to the hopper but does not coin up.


So far I've verified the following:


Door optics are good
Insert coin light is on
the small harness to the comparator is properly wired  1st and 3rd pin is jumpered, 2nd pin is the violet wire, 4th pin is the yellow wire, 6tg pin is the black wire.
I closed the door and dropped the comparator down to the coin tray area and the red led on the coin comparator is on.
I can press the coin up button just below the comparitor and it will coin up 3 times and allow me to spin the reels with the door open.


I'm not using a bill acceptor simply because I do not have one.


Do I need to enable the machine in programming to set it to .25 possibly or could it be that [size=78%]the optic is not seeing the quarter pass through, but I'm not sure if it's the optic on the comparator itself or the optic just below the comparator that has the white coin up test button on it?[/size]

Check to see if the coin comparator is good

the fact that the quarter is being accepted tells you the coin comparitor is good.  the fact that you can put credits on the machine tells us the second optic is working.

we have to verify that the other two are working. to do this you should run the optic test,  go to the input test 10_1 in the cp window  unplug the cc-16 and remove it, now insert a Popsicle type stick  down into the  black optic area and move it east and west ,you should see the 1 change to a 0,  do the same for 11_1 and 12_1   they should all change.   if they all work, you may have the wrong black optic in the assembly, you can unplug the optics, remove the two screws and take out the optic and look at it , it should have the 25 cent wording on it and the quarter should fit between the guide.

have you checked the coin guide for the optics to make sure its a quarter size? Tried turning down the comparitors sensativity?

One more note if it matters while I'm trying to find a popsicle stick in a house without Popsicles, the bottom candle light is flashing and the top one is on steady

How do I get to that 10-1 test? I pushed the test switch inside the game until I got a 10-1 in the winner paid window, is that right? Also, as far as the popsicle stick thing, is that with the door open or closed?

Ok, I just did the optics test. 10-1 moving the stick left and right, no change.
11-1 and 12-1 moving the stick left and right changes the 1 to a zero

I removed the Q4 optic now I'm getting a 21 error code when the machine boots up

I think you removed the wrong item,  the optic receiver is also labeled Q-4, you wanted to remove the surface mounted transistor Q-4.   If possible replace the Q-4 receiver and remove the Q-4 smt.  That will get you machine up and running.

Well im screwed then, this is what I removed.

send me the board and I will fix it for you.  on that board Q-2 would have been removed to correct the coin in problem.
