need help with IGT it won't play

HI. I have a 1997 IGT S-plus the candle on top is flashing yellow telling me the door is open I checked the optics and they are good also checked mother board and processor and wiring and they are good............... plz help

What the machine is doing? Does anything else light up besides the candle? Are there any numbers showing in the winner paid display etc? Can you take a picture and post it there so we can see the machine?  Welcome to NLG.

everything lights up and the reels spin but doesn't except coin drops to tray but on the back of the coin acceptor if you push the white button then the machine will play and also makes sounds. I pulled a coin comparator from a working machine and it made no difference but win I blocked rake open the coin dropped to the hopper and showed a credit and played not sure why??. And the candle is flashing yellow I checked the optics and there good.

Is there a sample coin in the coin comparator?

Have you tried blocking the rake on the comparator open to see if the coin goes to the hopper and registers a credit?

No offense, but WE need to see that it is in the right way. If you are not willing to follow suggestions then you will find the amount of help you receive drops off. Everyone here volunteers their time, no one is paid to give you this help, it is donated by people that could use the time for other things. You can make it easier for people to try to help, or you can make it more difficult. Guess what happens when it is more difficult?

On some problems we can't help as well without a photo, so post one of the coin comparitor mounted inside the main door. When blocking the rake open allows a coin to get accepted that usually indicates a problem with the comparitor or its connections or its setup or the sample coin you are using.

   yes it does go through to the hopper and registers a credit and it played. The coin comparator came from a working machine so I know it works

Did the comparator you took out of this machine work in the other machine then? That would tell you if it is the comparator or if the trouble lies in electronics etc. If we can eliminate a thing or two we can get closer to figuring this out. There is a possibility of maybe a couple of things going on.

  yes the comparator worked in the other machine. the candle is still flashing yellow ran input test 13_0 and the 0 did not flash on and off it just stayed on. I checked the door optic with the other machine and they are good and checked the wire for power going to the optic and it is good I checked the cash can wires and they were tide together. and there is no switch or optic in the belly door.   I thank the machine is trying to tell me there is a door tilt. ??

The candle will flash yellow until a paid credit is played. All that is telling you is that the door has been opened. So ignore that part. If everything is checking out try putting a coin in. The candle will not shut off playing a credit from the comparitor button. But if a coin credit is played it will shut off.

The ONLY reason the candle flashes is to alert the Casino that the door has been opened or it has hit a jackpot and needs a handpay.
