need help with IGT 21 code

HI.  I have a IGT S - plus  it is showing 21 code and the candle is flashing yellow and white. I swapped coin optic and coin competitor from a working machine did not help still showing 21 I tried using a clear set chip and that did not work please help.   Still having trouble so let me recap on it . when I open and shut the door the candle stop's flashing and 21 go's away. and a few seconds later 21 comes back and candle is flashing white and yellow and the reels do not spin. Here is a list of parts. That I put in to a working machine. Coin competitor / coin optic / cpu board  and all of the parts worked just fine. Any suggestions

Is this the same machine that you already have a post going dealing with the coin comparator not working? If so you, don't need to start another post, just add this to the original since it hasn't been marked solved yet. And any topic relating to the S+ machines should be posted in the S+ forum. It's much easier to keep things all together. Also using the clear chip should be the last resort. Seldom does a clear fix a random error. All it does is make you have to reset everything. The old saying on here is "take the clear chip and put it under your mattress and leave it there."

When you open and close the door the 21 should go away. If not the optics are not seeing the door as closed. If it is going away then coming back after the reels spin, then check the wiring harness back to the MB. My have a broken wire at the door hinge or the plug at MB has bad connection.

when I close door 21 comes back the reels don't spin they barely moved and the wiring is ok. but the candle is flash white & yellow. I also ran a in put test 13_0 and the zero is flashing telling me the optics are good. I am stumped.

run the input test for the optics, 10_1, 11_1 and 12_1,  those will usually tell what is going on.   if you swapped out the optics and cc-16, then the problem has to be in one of the following, the harness that connects the cc-16 and optics to the main harness,  the main harness back to the card cage plugs, the card cage connectors to the motherboard, the motherboard or finally the board.

sorry I new at this. could you plz tell me how to run this test and what I should be look for and what is cc-16

The CC-16 is  the coin comparator model in the S+. I copied the test procedure from one of Jim's earlier posts. Hope this helps.

"We have to verify that the other two are working. to do this you should run the optic test,  go to the input test 10_1 in the cp window  unplug the cc-16 and remove it, now insert a Popsicle type stick  down into the  black optic area and move it east and west ,you should see the 1 change to a 0,  do the same for 11_1 and 12_1   they should all change.   if they all work, you may have the wrong black optic in the assembly, you can unplug the optics, remove the two screws and take out the optic and look at it , it should have the 25 cent wording on it and the quarter should fit between the guide."

I put the coin optic board in a 25 cent working machine and the machine played just fine. So I swapped out the small wiring harness that go's to the coin optic board to the working machine the wiring  harness checked out ok the machine played. I did this be for I got your message.   So I went and swapped ever thing back and ran the test there was no change.

problem solved bad wire going to the cpu board
