Help with E-2090-1 with error code 1....6
« on: November 23, 2017, 07:47:38 AM »
We have a Bally E-2090 that throws the error code 1....6 as soon as it turns on. Any suggestions on what I should look for to correct this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would check the ribbon cable ends that plug into the MPU and IO boards. I have found many broken. Next check the power supply plug for burnt connections, and voltage.

I checked the three voltages on the power board and all seemed to be in range. The middle one was 7.25 instead of 7.5 as the manual states.  I also checked the voltage on the I/O board which matched the manual as well. I then inspected and reseated all of the ribbon cables and Molex type connectors that I could see. There were no black marks on any of them.

After all of that, the machine still displays a 1....6 when it is turned on. You can put a quarter in and it just slips right thru the machine like the chute is mis-aligned or something.

The machine was in perfect working condition until my father hit a jackpot. It hasn't worked since.

Are there any other suggestions on how I might remedy this? I looked thru the manual and it didn't mention a thing about this error code.

Thanks in advance!

Have you inserted the jackpot reset key into the reset keyswitch and turned it? If the jackpot he won was large enough the machine may have gone into "handpay" mode, it is waiting for the casino lady to come over and pay the jackpot by hand. Then she would insert the reset key and turn it to reset the machine back to normal. This is normally done with the main door closed.

EDIT- not sure, but there might be a reset switch inside the machine, near the front of the hopper. Look to see if there are 2 switches there, one for TEST and one for RESET, mounted to a circuit board. Below is a poor quality photocopy of what I mean.

That Bally E-Series has a reset key, but if you don't have the key just reach inside and manual close the lever on the cherry switch with the machine on.

Yes, he no longer has the key but I looked inside and saw that the key essentially pushed the lever switch down. So, I pushed it down manually and it had no effect. I even taped it down turned it on and shut the door in case the door needed to be closed to reset but that did not do anything either.

I also found the test and reset push button switches on the left side of the machine. I've pressed each of those various ways with different patterns. I even pushed and held them down together which produced a buzzing noise that could only be stopped by turning off the machine.

Is there a sequence in which I should push either of these three switches or, is there something else that I can check to resolve this 1....6 code?

Thanks again!

Post a picture of the other switches. Not sure what switches your referring too? They on the hopper board?

Check the battery voltage on the MPU board.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.
