« on: December 15, 2017, 07:20:45 PM »
Top monitor picture starts to shake/bounce not sure if it’s the monitor or video card .  It’s a Kristel display anyone else had this happen?   Bottom monitor seems ok

Resolved it’s the monitor thank you to those that provided assistance

connect monitor to a pc and see if the behavior is the same.  It could be a flaky cable as well.

Only have laptops.    When first turn on the machine it’s fine but longer it’s on it starts to act up.

You can connect it to a laptop, it's a standard vga cable to the secondary video port on the BB2 mpu.  But if it acts up over time, then it's probably the monitor.  The video card drives both monitors, and it would do it on both.  I would also try a new cable to the top monitor, cheapest part to replace.

You cannot properly proof this out without checking the obvious as rick said.

MAC laptops do not connect to VGA displays if it was that easy for me I would have done that.   I was just simply asking if anyone else has had the same situation happen and what was the outcome.

It could be a flaky cable as well.

Hey Mike...

Let me tell you a story. My BB1 dual screen had a bottom monitor issue. It worked great and over time developed a problem, it would flicker, it would be sharp and bright and then go dim. If I opened and closed/slammed the door it might help sometimes. One day it went dark...

I read and read and read on NLG to find a similar issue. I was ready to order parts, a board, a monitor...

I found a post that suggested to check the connections. I traced all my cables, got on my knees, stood on my head, everything checked out. I pulled the Molex from my backplane that went to the monitor and noticed one connection/pin was dark/brown like it got hot...

I made sure that Molex was plugged in solid and the monitor came to life.  YEAH!  Then it started doing the same thing, dimming. Again I pulled that Molex and squeezed that pin to make a better/tighter connection and plugged it back in securely.  That did it. My screen was bright and functioning as expected.

Check and double check your connections.

Greg

PS...I found a WMS chair amp but am still hunting for the 2 harnesses.  I might need to make my own. I might have some questions for you. Thank you again for those manuals I got from you...GB

Just got done doing the same thing on the monitor side...see photo.  See how stretched those female connectors are?  Grabbed some tweezers and pinched them together.  Cleaned with Deoxit.

I also took it apart and found a burn spot on the signal board 2-pin power connector.  Cleaned that with deoxit as well and scraped the inside of the female connector with a small screwdriver.

Monitor is working perfect now.  Mine was starting to seem dim and would ocassionally flicker.  Sometimes it wouldn’t power up on the first attempt.

Mac laptops connect to vga display, you just need the mini-dvi to vga "dongle"  We do that all the time at work for projecting presentations.
