IGT S and S-plus Reel Games / Re: Pinball S+ Reel Spin Sounds
« Last post by JRT45 on March 26, 2024, 04:06:29 AM »
I have fixed a sound issue on a 10MHZ S+ boards several times by replacing C43.  The first photo of your 16MHZ looks similar, but I could not see the capacitor number.  In the first photo of your 16MHZ MPU, look all the way down to the lower left hand side for the last capacitor on the board.  It is to the left of C60.  This capacitor is the last component in the sound circuit of a 10MHZ MPU, and it is in series.  If it is open, you will not get the spin sounds.

IGT S and S-plus Reel Games / Re: IGT S Plus Credit and Hopper limit
« Last post by newkid3 on March 26, 2024, 03:17:54 AM »
I have been up and down all night. Storms and crazy winds in our area tonight.
So if I get a SP1270 game prom I can just switch it out with the SP731 using the reel chip I have?
I really dont understand how the game prom and reel prom work together. Like will only certain game proms work with certain reel proms ect.
If the SP1270 game prom would work for how I would like to set this machine up for them can this chip be purchased?
I guess I would just change the game chip then put board back in machine clear errors then 61 to 61-1 then close door and turn JP key. After this can I go in and set those limits just like I have been told I can with the SP731 chip or would I need a set chip.

   Thanks

Thank you all for the great info! I partially removed the two monitors and saw the fans in question. The upper fan was working fine. The middle fan was loaded with dirt and dust and not even turning. I'm going to replace them in both of my BB2s.
Thanks also to Stayouttadabunker for this post with fan info!

Did you make any progress with what we discussed?

I use SP1270. It allows for separate hopper and credit limits.  I set hopper limit to 400 and credit limit to max 9999.  Then if you cash out with anything over 400 credits it goes to handpay.

If I remember correctly the reel sound, etc, come from the normal speaker and the topbox bonus sound comes from the speaker in the coin tray.

You're absolutely correct, and I had it backwards in my reply earlier.  :duh:  Thank you for the correction, and to CBRed sorry for the confusion.

There’s some metal plating covering mine so hard to look at wiring.

You need to open the belly door -- it is hinged and designed to swivel open. While holding the belly glass so it doesn't fall open and shatter your glass, pull out on the textured knob on the right side of the machine (next to the door latch) and the belly door should open. See the attached pictures for a guide.

IMPORTANT: When you go to close and latch the belly glass door, pull on the belly door frame multiple times to ensure that it completely latched. If you don't do this, you risk it appearing to latch but not actually being latched, and then having the belly door fall open, potentially damaging your very hard-to-find belly glass.
