Machine Identity?
« on: July 06, 2016, 06:43:16 PM »
I have to stop searching these listings...

I see this listed for another upcoming auction but I can't recognize anything.  From what I can see it appears to be an early solid state, 5 reel three line.  The top box looks huge to me!!  Is that all one piece?

Is this the only picture? Can you post a link to the auction site? Even if that's the only picture, I may be able to get a larger resolution shot.

Enlarged the photo but this decreases the sharpness. Lower glass maybe says "INCA ROYAL" ??  Is that an oxygen bottle sitting nearby, like my great-great aunt uses? We need knagl to id this, it looks like it might be from an era he knows about.   :garfield:

Top box is so big you'd want to bow down to it before playing.    :rotfl:

Ah, ok found a better pic on the auctioneer's site.

I see now it's obviously an aristocrat.

With the way CENTRE is spelled in the top glass, its probably an Australian machine. Here are some picks of the same machine title that someone sold in 2013. They stated they came off a cruise ship and had dates of 1986. Called them Aristocrat Elan machines.

With a little digging I found that same post before I came back here to look at replies.

I'm new here but, from what I've seen parts for the AU machines appear to be pretty rare.  Is there any desirability in these or, are they something to back away from, unlike the more common IGT/Bally/Mills US brands?

I bought just a three reel Aristocrat years ago for $50. It was fun tinkering with, for about two hours - then I realized the difficulty I'd have in getting parts. I did get some of it working though and sold it for $200!
Do you know if this works? If would be great if they let you plug it in and see what it does, or does not do.
And, what's the starting price? But, honestly I wouldn't pay over $50 if it didn't work. If it did work, I'd pay $150...maybe! Some people might buy it and part it out, knowing there's someone out there that needs parts.
If you're new to slots, I'd NOT get this and stick to a Bally or IGT.
But MAN I'd LOVE to go to this auction! Joe Long appeared to collect everything! I see a Victrola I want!  :hissyfit:

Thanks STS.  That's just the feedback I was hoping for.  This auction is a little far afield of my normal range but I saw the machine and had to ask.  I bought my Bally EM and S+ at auction.  After that I'm always looking for more "opportunities".

I'm not sure if I've been to any of his auctions but most of the cabinet style Victrolas I've seen (like the one to the left of the slot) usually go for $35-$50.  There are some closer auction this weekend but I still would like to check out the slot in person and there are some other things that look interesting.  The listing says that there is no buyers fee but doesn't specify if there is tax or not.  Very few auctions around he have a reserve/minimum bid.  If you're serious about it I'd be glad to proxy (cost + shipping) for you?  PM me if you want.

Those photos look like something that would be on that TV show American Pickers!   Some cool period antiques though.

I didn't think about it till you mentioned but yes, they are atypical (from my experience).  There is very little reality shown in "reality TV".
