My LED progressive disply caught on fire...help!
« on: October 24, 2016, 02:09:53 PM »
I picked up a few Bally Alphas the other day, oall of them have the Mikohn progressives in them.

I went to fire up the machines...smelled smoke, (not good).

It turns out that one of my LED progressive displays burned up...(literally).

My guess is the power supply for the Mikohn failed???

Could also be the power was plugged in backward?  Also a short can cause it.

I looked at the power supply board and controller board...no obvious signs of damage/components failure.

I think what may have happened was the piggy-back board attached to the LED panel might have been plugged in 1 pin off.

Guess that'll do it.....doh!

Yes having the piggy back board off by one will smoke the board.

Do you need a replacement?

Been close but never had one caught fire for the same mistake. LOL
