Wow I am stumped.
Never seen one of those.
Was it a dime machine?
It kinda looks like a cheating device

Looks like a contact from inside the switch for the DBV door

I'm guessing it is sitting on a dime for size comparison and not attached. Looks like part of a wire splice to me.

yes it's only sitting on a dime for reference of size.
I got this S plus machine up and running except for the bill validator it Cycles up and powers on like it should normally do but doesn't pull any bills in and  the red lights are visible looking inside, its a DBV 145 023 VS3.20
I pulled it all out and gone through it nothing stuck in there. I think it's time to get a set chip for it.
 Any helpful suggestions?

If that little part came out of your bill validator as brokenticker suggested then that may be why it isn't working.

Might be time to shop for a DBV-200 head, it would install right where the old DBV-145 is and give you some additional features the DBV-145 does not have, like 4-way bill insertion and compatibility with many newer style bills.

If the machine was cleared you may just need to go into programming and activate bill validation

Have you checked your settings to see if it is on? Should be 9-1 for on and 9-0 for off.

Push test button 2 times, you should see a 2 or a 5 in window. turn jackpot key until you get to 9-? should be 9-1 if on. If not you will need set chip.

It's good to have a set chip for the future. Was it on 9-1 or 9-0? I am thinking you have a DBV 145 or 200. The newest bill for it is the first edition large head 20. One dollar bills are best to test with. They have never changed.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.
