I do not think it's possible to add a printer to an S+ because the software doesn't support one. As for the a bill acceptor I believe your limited to a WBA, or a DBV unit.. I my self would go with the WBA..
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this sight on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

A long time ago I remember seeing a video of someone who had an aftermarket printer in a PE+ or S+.  The printer would plug into the hopper plug in the machine, would register when the "hopper" was receiving power and would simulate coins exiting through the optics until the machine turned off the power to the hopper.  While it was simulating the output, it would also count how many coins the machine was attempting to dispense.  Once the power to the hopper was turned off, the device would then print out a ticket or receipt with the number of coins "paid out".

It was not an IGT designed device, and doing a brief search just now I wasn't able to find anything.

If you look closely at a PE+ / S+ manual there is facility on the Schematics for a Printer.
I have seen nothing in the software that would indicate that printers are an option" however the method that Kevin mentioned above should be possible.

Ticket in would be another challenge.

I think the engineering design provision for a printer was in the hardware and wiring for the machine. But it is only possible thru the magic of the software and that appears to have never been included. Hardware guys vs software guys, someone didn't approve for it to happen on the software side. When these machines were at their most popular TITO was not a big deal. When IGT came out with the S2000 they didn't want to spend anything on retrofitting the older model machines and extend their life, preferred to have them removed from the casinos so new machines could be sold.

It's entirely possible.
I once hooked up an ICT GP-58CR Thermal Printer w/ Cutter to a switch attached to the coin hopper.
All I did was modify the topbox award glass holder to accommodate the exit hole of the printer slip.

I never utilized the pin-outs on the motherboard at that time.
I saved that project for another time because that would work better as one would only use the credit signal fom the internal accounting to the printer whenever the Cash/Credit out button was hit.

Presently, with a switch attached to the coin hopper, it sends a signal to print a slip even if there is only one credit on the display - waste of thermal paper really.
