Snipped wire...?
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:51:01 PM »
When I got my S (not S+) machine, this wire was snipped.  My machine seems to work fine without it.  Any idea what it is for a why the PO would have snipped it?  Thanks...

Jeff

Perhaps to disable the meters, do they work?

I never thought to look, but the meters do not work.   I wonder why they would've wanted to disable the meters...?  :Scratch-Head:

Not sure why you would on a S slot machine.  Lots of people bypass them on S2000's and I-games to get rid of the ticking sound they make when counting.  They can run for quite a long time with a low accounting denomination and large bets or a  good paying hit.  I don't have a very good wiring diagram for the S slot, but just curious, does you handle release solenoid work?  If it's the wire I think it may be it goes to the meters, handle solenoid, coin lockout coil, and the coin diverter coil too.

You can make a temp repair easy enough by rejoining the snipped ends and see if the meters start clicking. Some home users hate the sound, in a casino it is hardly heard.

The handle release solenoid does work.  Both the coin lockout coil and coin diverter coil work as well...

Sometimes the diverter can buzz when it's energized and I thought maybe that was the reason for cutting the wire.  It would make more sense to disconnect it at the diverter coil though.  Maybe it was just to disable the meters?
