reel detective progressive display
« on: December 07, 2015, 08:10:18 AM »
I was finally able to get mu machine running and accepting tickets. Now I would like to take the next step and get the progressive meter working. I have a Igt s2000 and I don't have the ballys mastercom to control the progressive meter, I have the display. What is the easiest way to get the progressive working again.

Thanks in advance,

James

The mastercoms do not control the progressive.
What parts do you have? Just the meter in the glass?
Send us a few pictures inside your machine. If the meter is the only part you have I would suggest replacing it with a Spectrum unit they are completely self contained and are relatively cheap and easy to program.

It looks like you have it all.
If its a stand alone unit then
all you need to do is program it.

If its a stand alone unit (should be printed on the board in the 3rd picture).
There is a software program and you need a laptop
with a serial port is all I know.
There is people here that know a lot more than me
that can tell how to get it done.

You do need to clean that top box, all that dust is bad for electrinics!

I thought the Bally's mastercom controlled the card reader not the progressive? If you look at my other post entitled sizzling 7 c9 error, they say I need a con 2 to operate in the home environment.

The board in picture #3 is the control board for the progressive display.
If they say you need a con 2 to operate in the home environment,
then you need a stand alone controller.
The spectrum display is a better setup as the old
system are a pain and getting hard to find parts for.

You have two different units pictured. The first one is a mastercom and you are correct it controls the card reader etc.
The last picture is a cham II progressive unit but it is not a stand alone. It would require a con 1 or con 2 to allow you to use that board. ( if you have many machines that you want to tie to a common progressive this is the way to go)
You could purchase a cham II+ also called a cham II stand alone and use your existing display meter. A cham II+ would also allow you to put a scrolling message along with the jackpot value.
The easiest method would be to remove all that stuff and use a Spectrum unit, they are self contained and easy to program.
Hope this clarifies what you have.
We can help you with what ever direction you want to go.

Which ever way is the quickest and easiest method. Where can I buy a spectrum? Also can My base game chip be copied, Im afraid of breaking it with all the removals?

If you become a contributing member you can post a WTB in the classifieds on this forum. (You can also get your spare SB chip there) membership is well worth the money for the help and information available here.

I believe that is a spectrum. Do you have any pictures or links to what you want to get so we can be sure?
