A 649,740 to 1 shot, I believe. My wife's first royal was a drawn royal, about two years ago after I got her to start playing video poker. I finally caught up to her, and actually it was better since it was triple play. She always one up's me so we'll see what she hits next.  :rotfl:

After I hit it went to the casino across the street, The Virgin River, and played their progressive triple play in nickles. There, a drawn royal or three royals pays the progressive which was just over $2500. Now what would the chances be to be drawn a royal twice in the same day? Well, I had drawn 10, J, Q, and  K of clubs in that order. Missing the ace!!  :hissyfit:  Didn't get anything after the discard. But ohhhh so close!

Great hit.  I hit one about 12yrs ago in a indian casino near fresno california while visiting relatives.   It was dealt to me and paid the progressive.  The down side is someone had prviously hit it, so it paid $78.00.  I would have gotten much more for just straight flush.   Talk about a kick in the balls.

Congratulations on your W-2G!

The first time I got a handpay it was $1000 in Lake Tahoe. The woman remarked as she paid me "good thing you don't have to pay taxes". I chuckled and said "yeah" but at the time I didn't realize what she meant. A couple of years later I'm on Freemont St. and hit for $1225. So they come over and say "we need your social security number". I was SHOCKED that taxes would be involved and learned the ropes at that point. I try to think of W-2G's as an award for a job well done, a certificate of achievement  .

Thanks! - That's why I used so many DAMNIT's in the post.. I would've been better off hitting $1199.. But, I have dumped pounds of cash in casinos from east to west and FINALLY a handpay, DAMNIT!

Now I can sell off all my slots! JK  :cool_thumb_up:

Congrats.   :applause:
The lesson i learned from hitting $1300 at Twin rivers in RI  last year was cumulative earning from a bonus round trigger the taxes also.  Meaning if you hit a single spin jackpot for $1200 your screwed, if you hit a bonus round like i did and the total winnings from the bonus round hit $1200 or greater your screwed.

The rule is, if on a single play, you earn over $1,199.99 then you get W2g.  The bonus round is part of your single spin, even if the bonus round entails "free spins" it is still all started by your single wager.

Now if you have a players card and can have the casino print out your losses (which I was told can be done), can that cover the taxes come tax time? Say I lost $1501 then hit this $1501, would that null it out?

Or should I run for the hills and live off the land so the tax man doesn't come battering down my door? Ha!

Bring your win/loss statements to your accountant... I'm still looking for more losses then wins last year, I have two W2Gs and one I wasn't using a player card. BTW, nice hits Matt. My W2Gs are from the same machine.....

Ok, will do. I'm still looking for more wins then losses this decade, but not a bad start this year!

Yep, I tried to send you a pic when I hit it (cause you sent me those handpay pics!), but the damn message failed. Very fun machine, I always pop a $100 in it when I go..  :cool_thumb_up:

I was told about the win loss statement while cashing out by the cashier.  However, you cant claim more losses than earning and i believe i was told that the win loss would only be valid for loss on that day of the hit.  For what reason, i have no idea.  What ever the case is, we all lose out.
Ive never gotten the win loss statement, i honestly think i would seriously ashamed of myself looking at a years worth of damage.

What bothers me is when you have a state lottery  hit and they deduct the taxes from the check issued and you still have to list it on your taxes as income.

Yep, but you can only claim losses equal to the amount of your taxable winnings (so win $2,500, claim $2,500 in losses). For losses, just use the ATM or cash a check each time before walking out of a casino, especially when you've hit something that year. IRS has been allowing gambling losses LONG before Player Tracking statements.

WOW!  What a great feeling that is.  Nice when it happens at the beginning of the year, more time to enjoy the cash until next tax season.
