Topper Progressive Display
« on: July 14, 2017, 03:39:46 PM »
I just got a new S2000 Top Dollar machine. It was brand new in storage and was never installed on the casino floor. It came with a topper which has a progressive display. The machines lower award glass says Progressive so I believe it is setup for it. During boot up the display says "No Data".

How do I enable the progressive display ?  Do I just key it and select stand alone progressive, enter appropriate parameters etc. ?

It sounds like it is spectrum based display.
Key and follow instructions here.

Whoa, I have the brother of your machine!  Just picked up an identical two coin 1.00 Top Dollar that is brand new, never used.  Identical to yours.  Obvious that the dealer picked up more than one of these, wherever they were found.  I got mine form a local that bought it from the dealer new 3 months prior, so about 5 months ago.  I wonder what the story is on these, why they never went to the Casino floor?  Also have the identical progressive topper.  Glad mine works, as I have never messed with those before.

The story I heard is that a Las Vegas casino had 9 or 10 of these new machines in storage for about nine years then sold them. I don't know why they never installed them. Maybe they were purchased as backup replacements. I saw this one go up for sale the other day and I ran all the way to the bank, then showed up with the cash and grabbed it.

If some of the other owners chime in, maybe we can start a club.

Yeah, nice machine!  That came from The Luxor in Las Vegas.  You can tell by the skin on the cabinet.

Yes, mine also has that same cabinet laminate.  Nice to know it is from the Luxor.  One piece of the mystery now solved, thanks!  :-)

To the OP, be sure your enhanced sounds are enabled.  They were not on mine, as factory default on the sound settings just gives you that old fashioned IGT reel spin sound.  Turned it on in front of the guy I bought it from that had it a few months, and his jaw dropped open.  He did not realise he was missing all those sounds and reel spin music.

When I purchased mine, I was told it was from the Luxor. I wonder what other treasures they have in their basement. The enhanced sounds were already enabled when I received mine.

Do you have yours setup for coin ? Looks pretty simple. It came setup for Luxor tokens. It has the X-Mark Exptor (coin comparator) which is simple to program for whatever coin or token to want to use.  Just need to add a hopper.

The Mei SC6602 bill validator needs an update. Mine won't accept $100 or $10 bills.

Would love to see what other treasures are hiding in Casino storage areas!

Mine is set up for coin.  I just added the hopper.  Set the cash out to drop 50.00 in tokens, and the balance by reciept.  I did add Bettor Tito, as mine also has an MEI not set up for the latest currency.  But I just use the TITO, so not a big deal to me.  I just went and looked, and I have that same model Coin Comparitor in mine.  I just set it up for Fannini Dollar Tokens which I had on hand.

It would be fun to track down the rest of these.  I suspect the guy I got mine from got it from Rocky Mountain Slots, as I found a crd inside.
This one was made in 08/05.  I wonder if yours was built that same month and year?  Do you actually have two?  Or is the picture of yours with a mirror behind the machine?  Looks like two identical machines in the picture, LOL.

One idea I had, with these being ordered by the Luxor as only two coin games, it makes me wonder if they wanted these for a high limit room, but had the wrong glass as everything is reading payouts in Dollars.  Maybe they meant to change out the glass and use them that way, and never did?   It's fun to try and guess why these nice machines were never used.

Sure got lucky with mine, showed up on Craigslist and was able to grab it for 1800.00 as the guy needed some cash quick.  Said he paid 2200 and shipping a few months earlier when he bought it.

Man, there has to another hoard of new old stock machines out there.  :-)

I think the dealer I bought mine from may have purchased it from the casino. He was involved in the purchase of some of the original 10 or so that were released for sale. He said they were grabbed up fast and he couldn't get them all.

The mfg date on mine is 8/05 also. And yes, it is a mirror in the photo. I only have one.

I love coin machines. I plan to setup mine with half dollars.

We were lucky that they came with coin entry's and comparitors already installed.

That is rather strange in itself, by 2005 you would not think the Luxor would order new machines with coin in.  Everything was on TITO by then.  Another part of the mystery I guess.  And maybe another reason they sat in the back that whole time?

Fun stuff!  :-)
