s2000 draining battery
« on: January 20, 2020, 07:27:04 AM »

i recently purchased this S2000 machine from a private seller...It has an enhanced board with an R-board attatched...the main battery was low, and the varta battery was still attatched when i got the machine...i removed it, along with cutting the leads on u16.  reprogramed the machine to the settings I wanted.  I installed a new 2354 battery....machine worked great....was off for 3 days..turned back on, low main battery displayed...replaced 2354 battery again...machine played great...was off for 2 days...turned back on....main battery low...this time..replaced the battery, checking the voltage of 3.26 dated it and installed..that was 1-17...machine worked great...turned on last night...low main battery message.  machine has always been plugged in, just turned off on the main power switch
have doubled checked the u16 connection as out of the circuit (is still mounted on board, but all 3 terminals are cut...main battery says 2.69volts...any idea of what is draining these batteries in such short time?
thanks!!!
Steve

I had one that did the same thing, but I was using S2000 EPROMs on a legacy adapter board.  I never did figure out what was causing it.   I ended up "downgrading" it to a 502 board since I didn't have another 1270 board and my game software didn't require one.

unfortunately I don't have the option to downgrade to a different board...the machine is using an R-board, which I believe must be attached to the enhanced board?

all the batteries I have right now were purchased at the same time...about 3 months ago...I did not check the first 2 batteries, for voltages, but I did check the 3rd before I installed..it was at 3.26...I just checked the other 4 batteries...all 3.22 to 3.26...all are Panasonic CR2354, which ive used for years
I really don't want to install another battery until I figure out what is draining these, but if I have to due to testing, I will...ill also order another 10 batteries
anymore suggestions or ideas are very welcomed!!
thanks!!!
