S200 coin in jam, can't clear, what I've done so far:

I just got a machine in that has this error even though it's a coinless machine. So far here's what I've checked or done:


Tried another known working main CPU
Installed another known working back of the machine motherboard
Installed another known working door I/O board
Checked all connections at the back mother board
Replaced the coin harness bypass jumper with a known working one
Checked for any broken wires from the door I/I board all the way to the back motherboard


Still not getting any amber LEDs on the door I/O board
The deck buttons will not respond or light up, even in programming mode.


Is there anything else I can check or look for?

Definitely sounds I/O related. I tried to call you but your cell is not accepting calls. Is this a dual row button deck or standard? 5-5-2 or 6-6-3 display harness? 5-5-2 harnesses will not work with the 16 bit I/O even with the adapter. The 6-6-3 harness has a couple of jumper wires at the I/O connector that aren't present in the 5-5-2 harness.

I've pulled this machine out to attempt to get it working again. I've tried other known working CPU boards, backplane boards, door I/O cards, checked for any issues in the wiring harness & made sure all connectors were plugged up. Still getting this coin in jam error even after a clear. If I push my test button to get into programming, I can't navigate through it with the deck buttons because they won't respond nor are any of the deck buttons lit. I have a standard 5 button deck. I have a 5-5-2 display on this machine & it was mentioned that my I/O card may not be work with the 5-5-2 harness that's in this machine. Any clue of anything else I can check to resolve this? I just noticed something else that may give a clue to what's wrong. When I turn the game on & it boots up, the 3 reels spin backwards from the bottom rather than them spinning normslly, top towards the bottom

This machine has an I/O card for the door, one beside the CPU board (which is not plugged up to anything) I believe that one is for if you have backlit reels, which I do not on this machine. There is also a green circuit board mounted inside the main door with a ribbon cable going to the bottom right side, another small harness, mostly green wires, going to the bottom left side abd one small 2 prong harness going to the top left of that board

Have you tried changing that IO Board on the side of the MPU board? It’s not just for back lit reels, all tho the back lit harness does plug into it. I think the cabinet IO is a #200 and the door IO is a #801. Does this game have coin handling? If it doesn’t then I would check the doors wiring harness to see if it has the termination plug where the coin handling wiring plugged into.

It does have the termination plug and I know for sure the door I/O is an 801 & th3 cabinet I/O is a 200, and both of those I/O boards work in another game

I have seen bad 5-5-2 display also cause this problem.

Thank you qbert, that was it! Only problem I have now is that I only have a 6-6-3 display available to put in this machine so I'm now getting a 7 segment display mismatch. Can I just clear that and change it back to a 5-5-2 in programming?

What is the machine title? Is it a vision set up?

It's a Double Diamond, I cleared it and the 6-6-3 display is working now, thank you guys for all the help, I would have never guessed a bad display
