IGT Set Chips
« on: August 18, 2017, 04:46:20 PM »
I have a "Big Times Wild Cherry" machine that both batteries are bad.  I have some experience with the S-Plus machines but this is the first of the S2000 machines I have had.  From what I have been able to find online, I will need the Key 17 and IVC97 chips to set this back up after I replace the batteries but there seems to be some question as to what motherboard this uses.  If someone could look at the pictures I've attached and confirm these are the chips needed for this game/motherboard, I would appreciate it.

Thanks you.

That's a 500 series board. Get a 31 key and 97 clear, but a clear shouldn't be needed nor a key. Just reset a couple ram errors that will come up using the jackpot reset key. And don't bother replacing the 3 cell battery, you don't need it on that MPU

That's a 50X series MPU board.  You can safely remove the varta battery and do not have to replace it.  I recommend doing it before it starts leaking and destroys your board.

The coin cell is the CMOS backup battery and is the only one that needs to be replaced.  Someone already installed a battery holder, so that makes changing it really simple.  You can probably get away with changing the battery, follow the instructions on the display (RAM error, push and hold MPU button, close main door ...etc) and not have to use a keychip at all to get it working again.  Most of the settings will be pulled out of the EEPROM on the motherboard that doesn't require battery backup to retain data.

If you find anything that wasn't restored and requires a keychip to change Key 31 is what you need for it.  You don't need a clear chip unless you were planning on changing the accounting denomination.

Good luck and welcome to  :nlg-logo: .

Thank you.  I appreciate the help.  I'm sure I'll have more questions on this thing as I get it up and running.  I do a lot of pinball and video game machines but I admit I don't see a lot of slots.

Key 17, key 31, and key 45 will work for your machine.
If you leave the machine alone it might multiply if you catch the bug like most of us. Key 45 will work in all S2000 machines except R board.  I would recommend a key 45 in case you get more machines.

In case he gets more machines, when is that ever in doubt?

I had owned a Fortune 1 for a few years, then in April of 2016 I bought my first Game King, I turned out the lights and now I own 21 machines.  I do believe that the first GK (or Rick) slipped me a ROOFIE because I have no idea what happened.   :24:
