Diamond Fives 2 coin Jackpot Key not working

Hello,
So I have a few issues and wanted to get some input from you fine folks. First, I bought this Diamonds Five 2 coin for 400.00. Not a bad price even if it doesn't work currently. The seller did make me aware there was a Ram Error. Me thinking it's just a battery replacement and it is good to go. Not the case here. So first thing I did was replace the batt (CR Button) with a new one. I have removed the green batt permanently and to my surprise there was not corrosion. The mother board is extremely clean. After that I noticed the Jackpot Key does not cycle through to clear the error. After disconnecting the leads to the key switch and touching the leads together there was no change, cannot cycle through the Jackpot Key menu. So after tracing the two wires back to the Backplane, the wires are not cut or damaged. So that's where I sit now, no access to clear the Ram Error. With the luck I have, I went ahead and bought a S2000 MPU, Backplane, Power supply and power distributor. Like I said, my luck is crap so I figure I would cover all grounds. These items should be delivered in a few days. My other concern is that maybe the Gaming chips are fried, like I said, I need to cover all grounds. Is there a way to get the gaming chips in case I need them as well? Oh, and I also have the IGT S2000 Clear & Key EPROM Chip Set (IVC00097 & KEY00017) coming just in case. I hope I got the right ones. So there you have it. Any input would be great. If pictures are needed I will post them.

Congrates on your machine. You will get it working - with help from members or luck.

Looks like an S2000 with the speakers. So you posted in the S+ forum - a moderater will move it to S2000.  Just leave it here, don't repost. Happens a bit around here, no problem.

Post pictures of the inside of the machine cabinet and door.

The picture of your machine shows the eprom CRC error on the VFD. Open the door and press the white button on the MPU board and see if the VFD message changes. You may have to press it for 2 to 3 seconds.

If you just moved the machine in your house, check all the connections and reseat the MPU. Power off of course when unplugging or plugging anything in. Loose connections after a machine is moved almost always happens.

New MPU board will probably take care of the jackpot reset not responding. Pay attention the the chip location and orientation when moving the game PROMS from the old board to the new one and be careful not to bend pins.   Don't use the clear chip unless you're changing the accounting denomination.  It'll only create more headaches for it. 

Spare parts are always good to have.

Thank you for the info. I will definitely try the new/used board when I get and hold off on the clear chip. Having all these spare parts to work with will be a good way to trouble shoot. I am off tomorrow so I will have the time to really deep dive into troubleshooting. I will post the pics requested when I am off work this morning for sure.

I might as well be proactive. Does anyone know where I can get SB100065 Base chip for Five Times Pay 3 reel, single line, 2 coin game with the top jackpot of 10,000?  I'm also in need of a set or two of the 363 game 1 & 2 chips.

Actually everyone, I got it running perfect. The BV doesn't take new bills but oh well. I will need to upgrade the BV later, I am really happy it's all good. So the issue was the MPU. Got a brand new one today from Ebay, so it looks really new. So needless to say, I have a lot of spare parts if I need them later. I popped the chips in the new board, put the backpane back in. I took the backpane out to inspect it, and was able to fire it up with the normal errors and scroll through the errors with the key this time. Pressed the white button for 3 seconds, closed the door when told and all booted up to customer use. I am so happy I have this awesome IGT for 400 bucks and 50 for the MPU.
