WTB/WT(Repair) IGT Sizzling 7s
« on: June 21, 2019, 02:34:55 PM »
We bought a couple of machines from Used Slot Machines (online)  first time getting into slot stuff.  Didn't know about NLG or the world of slots until we started to try to fix stuff.
The guy, Brian, at USM has tried to be helpful, but I guess he's done trying to get the machine to work.  I've read countless hours on here and it sounds like many members sell parts for repairs.  Hopefully one of them, or many of them, can help diagnose the machine issues and sell me something to make it work!!
Here's what I know about it:
IGT machine:  Sizzling 7s.  3-reels.  3CBAP I think?  pays bars, 2 coins pays 7s, 3 coins pays more on 7s w/ jackpot.  no progressive.  no bonus or multiplier or whatever.  no haywire (so type 0 machine?).  It wasn't paying what it was hitting.  Otherwise it worked right.  Reel test seemed to indicate it knew where it was, strips are aligned in notches, all strips are the same, etc.  Just didn't show the right icons to pay (hit on mixed symbols, didn't pay on 7s, etc).

When we bought it, it had a sb001000 chip plus a ss3344, gme00363 (two of them), and version gx11he then said, "Oh, you need the sb100087 instead and take out the ss and sb chip."  So we did that.  Still didn't pay right. He then said, "Oh, you need the original SB001000 chip but the reels are wrong and you have a 32 stop and not a 64 stop reel strip set so you need ss7717 with the sb001000".  That seemed to match what I was reading on this site and other random areas.  He sent that chip (and a new button because the "reel spin" button stopped working).  Now, not only does that not work, but a red light comes on on the MPU when I do that combination or any other combination except the sb100087 (I think).  Whatever we have now, it doesn't work.  But the red MPU light isn't on.  I've read the red light can be a low battery somewhere, but then it should always be on I'd think.  It's only on with certain chip combinations.
Also, the speakers hiss horribly.  Read about adding an inline resistor, although I've seen from 4.7ohms to 10kohm to pots.  I thought of putting a high pass filter on there with resistors and capacitors rather than just drive up the resistance.
So what do you need to know to suggest a fix?  Am I missing something obvious?  I'd like to believe the machine works since all it's doing is not hitting the right paylines.  I even got our name on the TITO to work.

Maybe buy the right chip or buy a combo of the right chip and the right reel strips or just buy the strips for the chips I have?  I'd like high percentage payouts too.  I think the 7717 is like 92% but there's a 97% chip too.

PM sent. Post a pic of your MPU with the chips installed SB100087 & no SS chip.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Thanks for the help.  Will call tonight to walk through it and order the parts from you that you recommend.

In the interest of someone else several years from now that might be reading this, Ron indicated that I had the SS chips in wrong.  I had the notch matched to the notch of the socket but because the SS chip is shorter, it's supposed to leave those first four or so pins exposed.  Seems like the notches would register together, but apparently you leave a gap.  He said that's why the red lights were coming on sometimes.  So if you get red lights and then they go away with a different configuration, check that.

Problem solved!!  Thanks Ron!
For others with similar issues...
As is often the case, part of the problem was operator error.  I moved the 7717 chip that was sent from UsedSlotMachines.com (the seller) and put it in the right place.  Image that.  It worked.  So Ron told me where it goes.  Again, while it makes sense to line up the index marks or notches, you actually leave the first few holes open and it lines up on the "backside" (away from the notch marks).
Now the machine pays out correctly.  The real/reel problem is when they sent the 100087 chip, and as Ron said too, that should have worked.  But USM must have had some odd reel strips in there so they had to send the 7717 ss with the 1000sb base to work.  Ron said the 87 chip is probably better and lets you control or select pay tables and what not.  But this is just a home fun machine and the 7717 is 92% payout which is fine.  Hit mixed 7s within about 10 minutes of play.
The other problem, the hiss coming from the speakers, the solution for which posted many places is to put a resistor in series, is actually cause by a somewhat mismatched board.  We have the enhanced sound board.  Ron wisely suggested the MPU was probably a 502A.  When I disconnected the soundboard, sure enough.  Of course the sticker is put where you cannot see it with the sound board in.  Where else would it be??  Apparently it's a known thing (and probably posted elsewhere in the forums) that the older 502A board doesn't play well with the enhanced sound board.  The newer board works better.  We disconnected the sound board and, for us, it sounds more old school but good.  We like it.  It's a nostalgic machine that my wife's dad liked to play at the casinos so old is actually appropriate for this use.  It took the hiss out of the speakers.
His help was spot on and solved our problems.  Thanks Ron!
I hate not being able to reciprocate so I offered him a gun (or anything else) at dealer cost (we own a gun store).  Maybe we should start a GoFundMe account to help get Ron that gun.  Wouldn't that be ironic?
Thanks again Ron.

For what it's worth, I too purchased a machine from that same company and have been very disappointed in their customer service.
The machine I bought was a Double Diamond Deluxe 2 coin Round Top S2000.
The top glass is some sort of cheap Chinese knock off, it's fuzzy, distorted, dull and not even cut correctly.  They also installed a "Play 3 Credits" legend in the Button knowing it was a 2 coin game.
I've been asking them for new glass and the correct legend since May.
I feel your frustration with that whole group of people. Good thing there are knowledgeable folks on here that don't mind helping out with problems that can usually be fixed easily.
As for Usedslotmachines.com, their customer service and quality control are horrible.
Great job NLG members for being there!

Unfortunately, I had a similar experience and I do wish them the best, Last year May 2018 I got a Play 5 Coins Play 5 Lines Play 75 credits Double Diamond round top, It came with broken reel glass, cashcan,  and speaker after shipping company dropped it, Got  new reel glass and bill validator, speaker and reel glass within a week, but the top glass broke by accident after the repair person discovered that the top box came loose during shipping. By late July I finally found someone else with a cashcan and the top glass because I was getting the run around regarding shipping, by mid August I got my machine to work

I would also add that you should remove the green Varta batter located on the MPU (if it has one, mine did) as soon as possible because the acid will leak all over the circuitry if left long enough, I would search or ask “How to remove green Varta battery s2000”, Also check to see if your board is a 1070 or a 500, People on jere would be more helpful at explaining than me if you wish to remove the green battery
