My newly aquired Alpa...
« on: February 20, 2015, 02:47:12 PM »
So I made a deal to get a Bally Alpha S9000 2x5x10x pay with progressive option.  He meet me with the machine (193 miles away) this morning and below is what I bought! He had it nicely bubble wrapped and a box of accessories, the topper light, keys, etc. He helped me load it from his car to mine, and he went through some details on the boot up and process etc. and gave me a CF Clear Card and the manual CD etc.  He even gave me a cheat sheet for routine setup items etc. Got it home, got it out of my SUV and got it in my basement.  Booted it up as he instructed and it's working AWESOME!!!  This machine is in GREAT condition!!!

PS:  Thank Bob I love the machine!!!

Congratulations, Alphas are awesome machines, now you need:  :stirthepot: :stirthepot: :stirthepot:

1.  5 reel converstion parts.
2.  V20/20 conversion parts.
3.  game kits.
4.  game kits.
5.  Did I mention game kits...
6.  1 Ghz MPU box
7. Spare parts like ampiflier boards, backplanes, power supplies, mpu board
8.  Do your belly led lights have the ability to change colors via dipswitch, or are they the single color leds?

Did you know you can run V20 video titles on your topbox?

Or, you could just get "companion" Alphas like I did and have one of each type   :propeller: :propeller: :propeller:

With the machine off, remove the Game Card and the OS Card.Replace the OS Card with the Clear Card.
Turn the machine back on.
Watch for a message on the monitor ,use the test button to select an action.Select "Clear NVRAM and EEPROM"
Turn the Attendant key to execute the selection.
Wait for the message NVRAM Clear successful
                               EEPROM    "          "
Turn off the machine, remove the Clear Card and install the OS Card and the Game Card.
Power the machine back on and after about 15 minutes you Game will come up on the monitor.
Press the white button to get to the set up menu.
Before you do any of this I suggest you read all of the info on this web site. There are procedures for powering on and off etc.
There are manuals in the NLG File System.
Your first clear can be very frustrating

DF77 That is a great video... thanks.  Is there anything I can break that can't be fixed... such as something become corrupt that can't be re-done and that would require replacement?

update:  OK the clear seems to have went fine and now getting ready to go through the setup.  I took photos of each screen I could get to and now I have at least what I hope I'll need to set it up as it was and just change the progressive.  I do have the progressive sheet so I know what one to set (I hope!)

I am not aware of anything that you could harm permanently.
It can get very frustrating if you do not follow procedure when setting up the progressive.
On the right side of the monitor you will be able to see your progress or what needs to be done,
as in clock not set or denomination not set etc.
My first game change took me about 2 hours as I had to go back and do a clear and wait
another 15 mins to boot up.That was about a year ago .
I find it  much easier now because of members like Coolwavepics and Rickhunter making videos of
the set up procedure.
Someone on here will always have a fix if you get into a bind.
Good Luck!

THANK YOU!  It went very smooth and I'm all done!  When I missed something the machine told me so and I went and configured what  had missed.  Now my progressive add just like my local that has this same machine!!!  ;)

Right games changes... Where to find them!  ')

Also is it possible to get the bill validator to printer a TITO that then can be re-inserted for credit vs always using "money"?  I saw something online when I was search this topic:

"FREE PLAY and TICKET ACCEPTANCE"
KIT AVAILABLE FOR SLOT MACHINES

Feature 1:   Slot machines can be converted to FREE PLAY. No dollar bills or coins needed. Just one push of a button will add credits to the slot machine to use for play.

Feature 2:   For a slot machine with a ticket printer, this same FREE PLAY processor board will allow the bill acceptor to accept the cash out tickets and add those credits to the slot machine.

Feature 3:   For a slot machine to accept a printed ticket the bill acceptor has to be active. We can set the bill acceptor to only  accept tickets if desired or both bills and tickets.

More than one machine? Add the FREE PLAY board to all your machines and use the cash out ticket from one machine to another.

All features can be set independently or used together.

The machine will always be capable of being converted back to it's original set up in just several minutes.
Cost without a bill acceptor installed (feature 1 only) - $50.00.
Cost with a bill acceptor installed - $100.00.
Cost with over the phone installation - $150.00.

As far as I can tell this is the only Alpha 3 reel game kit on the market at this time.
The top glass wont fit,the reel glass doesn't have reel divider black out ?
Check the width of the reel strips. It may be for a CineReel
Cannot see the software #'s but if it would work in your machine it's worth the asking price.
If you are interested you could call them, they are very helpful.  http://rudysdeals.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=93&product_id=2634

That kit is for a cinereel. You can tell by the glass and the topper.

Good info thank everyone... question... I'm a Bally fan for sure and want to stay with their machines.  I'm also really more into mechanical reel type slots, not the video or the reels that are video.  My questions is this:  Would I be better off with a different slot vs the Alpha S9000 I have now for more options of game kits/software or is this unit have just as much available as others.

Alpha game kits are not as readily available in the 3 reel as they are in the 5 reel.
If you want to stick with the Bally brand then you may want to look at the S6000's
The IGT S+ & S2000 have the most available games.

Alpha kits are there, they are just harder to locate.  You can still find a boatload of alpha S9000's in the casino's.  As they get replaced by alpha 2's you will see a bigger selection.  Part of the problem is that the international market snaps up these machines, so there's no incentive to part machines for kits.  There were also far more S2000's around, but even these you can see that kits are not as easy to come by as they were maybe 3 years ago.  I do have more S2000 kits than I do bally alpha kits, but I've only had my alphas for less than a year, and I probably have around 20 alpha reel kits, 15 of which are 5 reel games.

The software will work in any Alpha machine.. Cinereel or S9. I know for a fact that 5 reels for cinereels are wider than normal. 3 reels look wider as well. I guess you could trim the strips but that would be up to you.
