Installing 7 segment Standalone progressive display.
« on: March 22, 2014, 06:04:06 AM »
Hello all....after a week or so of working on it, I finally got my progressive display finished. Just thought I'd share with everyone how it turned out....

What I ended up doing is buying a 7 segment dual progressive display from a guy on ebay..After receiving the product it looked like this;

When I installed it in my 9" top, it was way off....yea there was adjustment, but, there was major modification needed on the piece that the display screws too. So, I found out the measurement's it needed to be..i really wanted to just screw it to existing screw holes, which it looked like I had in the box from a spectrum display that could of been mounted there....I also wanted the ability to move it to suit different glass themes....

Heres what the piece looked like after all the mods were done to it....as you can see I only use one display..not two.

This unit was suppose to be for a s2000....but it must of been for a 16" top box then...I moved the adjustment all the way up..but still needed a lot more but it was hitting the top of the box already...that's why I modified it like I did above...it needed to be pushed out and heightened.

Heres a shot of it all together.

So after I got the modified bracket in the machine it needed very little adjustment...heres a shot of it

So after I got it all lined up, I was then hit with the problem of needing a progressive sticker for the window...it would look stupid if I left it completely open...so I had some transparent sticker paper..and some laminating film....I made my own...

I needed to mirror the image so the sticky part was on the outside so it stuck to my glass.
It turned out pretty good I think...

So all that was left was cutting out the sticker to the size of my display...

Heres the Semi finished display...

Iam not real happy about the blocking of the backlight, but theres nothing I could do short of adding a led infront of the board....

So I set up the progressive using fosters settings which worked great!

Only snag I ran into, was when I bought it, it said it plugged into the netplex board....well that's wrong...it plugs into the plug that in the top box, but mounted through a plate on the bottom back left corner..

Its been running great for a few weeks now.

Now I just gotta win it!!!!!!
