new "What's it?"
« on: August 11, 2016, 08:25:28 PM »
In pursuit of a new addition to the addiction.. I see these possibilities.   Of course the RWB is obvious but what about the other two?

If I could only have 2, I would take the S+ RWB and the file cabinet. Leave the Bally 5500

I see that the 5500 can't read it's own tickets.  That seems pretty stupid in itself but, besides that are they that bad?

Any idea what the one sitting behind the RWB may be?

Not enough view to know what the hidden one might be. From what I've seen, the 5500's require an auxilliary programming keypad to make them work if the cmos battery dies and needs replaced or the rom programming is otherwise corrupted. The 6000 series were much better machines, can be programmed from the player buttons like IGT and others can, no external equipment needed other than clear/key chips. If I've misspoke on anything, I'm sure someone will jump in to correct me

Fair enough.  Thanks for the heads up on the aux issue.  I will pass on that unless it goes for next to nothing (not likely).

From what I can see, the other one appears to be a 3 coin titled "New York" (obviously with a white cabinet) if that is at all familiar?

The round top is a Bally 6000. You can add TITO to a 6000 Bally. The other machine I can not read the top glass to see what title it is which may help determine what it is. Just guessing but it might be another 6000 .

Thanks Sunrise side, I stand corrected on model indentification. So, I guess I'd leave the file cabinet and take the IGT and one of the Bally's. Two the same model has it's benefits, but quality-wise, that IGT S+ beats the crap out of the Bally's

You can add TITO to a 6000 Bally.

My NLG contribution expired so I can't look at the archive here but a search yielded :"The only limitation of the ticket printer is that the bill acceptors will not accept your tickets.  The tickets are intended to save time from unintentionally cashing out with a lot of credits on the machine."  It seemed silly to me.  Is that not the case or is TITO a later mod?

At the top of the paytable it says "New York"  But just based on the two cabinets you're probably correct?  I won't know till I see them in person Saturday

The Bettor TITO unit, sold by vendor Bettor Slots will work on the Bally 6000 machines and allow you to redeem the tickets you print back into the machine. Talk to Jim, owner of Bettor Slots or visit his web site under the same name

Looking closely at the slot in the back, and based on observation of the "squareness" of the topbox, my money is on a WMS 4xx series slot (non-dotmation type).

Well you were the winner!  Both were Bally 6000's and thanks to knowing that ahead of time it was obvious that both were missing their MPUs.  They were just sitting out on a trailer in the rain.  Given the condition of the 6000's and with no way to tell if the RWB would work at all (but it appeared complete) .. I decided to pass.
