Hi again :)

Anybody knows which system sw version to use for Timber Wolf (0154013) and Pelican Pete (0252555) (both MK6USA).

I've tried 01.04.11 and below, as this is the latest version I have..

In all cases I receive "png decoder fatal error" after "1 video chip found" is shown and the system keeps rebooting.
Do I need a newer version?

All help is welcome!

Are you sure Timber wolf isn't 0154012? It's compatible with 01.04.07 and up.
Pelican Pete is older but it's compatible with 1.03.04 and up.

Your 1.04.11 should work fine for both.

Do you have another Mk6 board to test with?  Kinda sounds like it's a problem with the embedded video.

0154013 is definitely Timber Wolf in my parts list. I haven't heard of 0154012 funnily enough.

13 comes up blank.  12 comes up as timber wolf in aristocrats website.

Hi,

thanks for reply-ing!

Timberwolf shows up as 13 on my machine. (During boot up).

Maybe the games won't boot because this is originally an OZ machine (MVP cabinet). Maybe it looks for some kind of chip or whatever that is not present in my cabinet.

Any other suggestions are very welcome offcourse :)

Cheers

It's possible that both 12 and 13 are different variants of Timber Wolf e.g. maybe a different max bet limit or payout percentage, who knows.

Update: some oz games show the same error (png decoder fatal error). For example Lucky 88. Maybe because i only have one video chip?

Cheers

Which system chips are you using for the NSW games? AFAIK some older chips don't work with later games while other games run fine. I hope for your case it isn't bad RAM or something along the line, if the error is happening with both USA and NSW games on the same board.

I think you only need 2 video chips for dual screen games e.g. multigames such as Player's Choice/World, and hyperlink games that don't use the 7-segment LEDs. I can't think of any standalone MK6 games that use two screens.

Hi!

I've used version 19 and 24 for Lucky 88 (NSW). Both versions same error. Some games just run fine all the time. Also larger ones like "Werewolf Wild".
I hope the board isn't bad :(

Thanks for your reply!

Sorry I overread your suggestion to test with another board. Unfortunately i don't have another board. But if the png decoder error is no common error, it's worth trying another board. I'm gonna look if I can find a cheap one somewhere.
Thanks

Outback jack and the Cashman series of games utilize two screens, both are standalone progressives and use the secondary video driver board.

Well, here I am again,

The exact error is:

Found 1 video chip.
Loading resources...
Process startup (48)
107736 Pngerror.c: Png decoder fatal error

The game works in a friends MK6 machine. But that is a real MK6. Mine is a converted MVP.

Games that work fine, e.g:

- Miss Kitty;
- Pompeii;
- Scatter Magic III;
- Werewolf Wild.

Games that do not work, e.g:

- Timber Wolf;
- Lucky 88;
- Pelican Pete.

So tell me this, which cpu board are you running on?  You mentioned it's a converted mvp.  Can you elaborate?

Outback jack and the Cashman series of games utilize two screens, both are standalone progressives and use the secondary video driver board.
That's interesting, the Australian versions of Outback Jack only had a 7-segment LED in the topbox as with Zorro, Mr Woo, Corrida de Toros and Big Red 2 and sometimes Hyperlink games (and probably others I can't remember). Cashman Tonight has two screens but AFAIK in Australia (or even just New South Wales only, as I never saw it in the wild) we only had a 4-in-1 multigame rather than standalone titles, and all of the multigames have two screens so they can change paytables.

These photos were taken in a venue in Ringwood Victoria (outer suburb of Melbourne) back in 2014.  Yes, we hit the jackpot on a 90 cent bet! :)

Additionally, the max bet for this version is only 300 credits instead of 600 hence the 3x bet option being available; the original NSW version has 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20 multipliers and cannot be set to anything besides 1 cent, whereas the Victorian version could be set to 2c as well, which changed the jackpots to $20 and $1800 respectively, however a new law appeared in 2010 which banned any machine from being able to bet more than $5 outside of Crown Casino so those machines are all 1 cent now. Ironically, Crown Casino doesn't even have a 1c Outback Jack so to play one you have to find one elsewhere, and the machine is becoming rare since they are getting rid of MK6s these days (and we didn't get an updated version of it on Gen7 or anything).

In case you're wondering why the game is called Outback Adventures! on the belly glass instead of Outback Jack, it is because the game was most likely originally planned to be a choose-your-feature game similar to Lady Luck, but clearly they released it with random features instead, which is seemingly weighted on Big Rock or Fishing Spot more than anything else! On promotional posters and a DVD which used to be on loop at Crown Casino also showing a bunch of other games (which was probably destroyed long ago) the same artwork was used but it had "Choose From 7 Outback Adventures!", with the 7th place being called Mystery Island which was located in "Queensland" on the map. I gather the "mystery" being the jackpot feature of course, which ended up simply being recycled from the Zorro card feature instead.

Hi,

Well, it's a converted MKV machine. So the backplane, cabinet, driver board etc is MKV.
The main-board is MK6-XP. Maybe that's an issue why some games won't run?
