Replacing G23 lower screen
« on: January 12, 2018, 06:48:27 PM »
I just received a replacement bottom touch screen for my G23 from a board member :hail: unfortunately my screen had some pretty bad screen burn.

I have removed the wires and cables, but don’t know what to do from here. Anybody ever done this? All help is greatly appreciated.

Also, do I have to worry about screen burn in the future? I am now afraid to leave the machine on for extended periods with credit in it because the screen attract won’t turn on. Thoughts?

I didn't think LCD's were subject to screen burn, you sure it's screen burn?.  For a home user, you probably don't have to worry about it.  I've never had screen burn on any of my LCD's.

I agree with Rick...LCDs don’t burn like CRT monitors.  Snap a photo of the screen.  Maybe it’s nicotine residue.  That can be cleaned if that’s the case.

@rick - Thanks for the reply. I am not very technical, so perhaps it is something other than screen burn, but that is exactly what it appears as. For example, if I have a 3reel game loaded, you can see the outline of the 5 reel game which appears "burned in". Then when I put on a 5 reel game, that games reels may be a different shape, and you can see the "burn" from the other 5 reel. In short, it was a mess. But, I am happy to say I replaced it and it looks fantastic now. What a difference!

@yoeddy - Thank you for the response. I didn't know this was a likely scenario re the nicotine. If you see my above response to Rick, I highly doubt it. I have already changed the screen so I can't shoot over a photo unfortunately.

I just get so concerned leaving the screen on for any period of time with credits in it now as the player attract won't activate. Hopefully I am working about nothing..

So what was the process to replace the lower screen?  I have been thinking of doing that myself.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

These screens do very much burn in. I have had one myself.  Did you get the screen out?
