I picked up a S2000 popcorn slotto project.

Apparently the machine had been knocked over at some point in time. The very top/back side has a major dent. The machine I bought is the Double Diamond version, but it has the wrong upper glass, (Triple Star)

I haven't found much information on these machines online. Does anyone have any info they'd share?

You can find that glass really cheap at the same store that sells hens teeth, lol

Seriously though, AC coin went out of business several years ago and parts/software can be difficult to find. If the game works other than having the wrong glass you might search the site using AC coin in the search box as there was a member in TX who picked up a bunch of these machines back then. Seem to remember they were parting them out as most didn't have software. Sorry, small lead, but it's a lead. The AC coin games were just never that prolific in the casinos

A new upper glass, (or even a quality scan) would be nice. My biggest concern, right now, is in trying to repair the damage in the upper cabinet. Who knows, maybe I can find someone that has one for sale. The upper cabinet is unlike any other IGT I've seen so far.

What money do these type of machines fetch?

Honestly couldn't put a price on a working machine in good condition. Depends heavily on title and market in your area. A machine that goes for $800 where I live may only fetch $500 where you are

I noticed something else on this machine. It might have "home-made" reel strips. The strips are non back-lit. On the back-side of the strips, when you look closely, you can see "water marks" saying Fuji film.

Speaking of spare parts...

This extra assembly also came w/ the machine. The one with the wrong balls in it, (on the left) is what is currently installed in the machine.

Worst case scenario you can sell the AC Coin parts and convert the machine to a standard IGT whatever machine, just a top box and complete game kit would do it

I agree. And I already have a bunch of kits I can install.

As for replacement parts...I might be able to re-produce some of them I have my own cnc machine shop. I've had to make several parts for my pinball machines.

Sounds like you have lots of options then. Good luck with your project, I think it would be a fun game if you can get it back to origional and working

Update...

The machine is up and playing...just not exactly sure what game it's playing though. It's playing 5 credits, so it probably has the Triple Star SB game chip installed. The reel strips are definitely hom-made...though they're nicely done. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this game, as it sits. I'd love to find the correct SB chip for it, (Double Diamond). The belly glass and matching reel glass are in great shape. Lower cabinet and popcorn box are in pretty good shape. For what money I have in it, I might hang onto it for a while in hopes of finding an upper glass and correct SB.
I tried a search in the NLG classifieds but couldn't find any old ads listing any AC Coin stuff.

I found this video on youtube. It looks like it has your DD strips. Maybe that gives you an idea of what the correct glass looks like. I wish you the best of luck with that one. Very cool.

When these came out some years ago we stood in line to play them. Games were fun but they always had a issue with ping pong balls hanging up/sticking and causing machine tilts. The man cowboy refers to is John in Dallas. About 4-5 years ago they had about 2000 or so of these (diff. types). As far as I know the sold many, parted out many and junked many of them. Parts for these do pop up from time to time on flea bay, esp. the reel strips. I personally like the pop-corn myself due to the novelty of the machine. Looks like your top blower is working. I think it's worth fixing up-

I plan on keeping it, just because it's unlike any other slot I have. I just hope It doesn't take me years to find the parts I need to get her running 100%

Agreed. It's unlike any slot most anyone has, really. I hope you'll keep us posted if things progress. I think software is your biggest problem (if you plan to keep it DD). Glass can always be custom made for the right price.

I have not talked to John in about a year or so. They have a big warehouse in Dallas. Will try and locate their contact info. Don't know if they have any of that stuff left. The software needed for your machine may be on a R-board. What is in it now-Board wise and software/simm card etc. What is the date on the tag on side of machine. I have some old stuff around so you never know.
