Relay ID for 831-ze
« on: April 22, 2017, 03:20:37 PM »
Got the machine awhile back and haven't taken the time to ID this relay behind the reel mechanism.
Thought I would put it out there for some advise before I look into it.

Okay, traced out the wires and came to this conclusion. Anti cheat system to prevent drilling the side of the machine.
Most likely reason to drill would be to stop the clock and or hold the reels.
One side of the relay is wire between the 120 volt fuse. The other side got its power from the top hinge door switch. The door switch wires are soldered to thin metal plates adhered to the inside of the machine.
These plates are sandwiched together by some type of double sided tape.
When an object passed from one plate into the other it would in theory make a closed circuit tripping the relay.

Bill,
Haven't had the time to trace it out yet.
Thought I'd put it on this site as to get some info about that perticular relay.
The bell stop working on the machine, so I'm in the process of getting it working.

How is your new machine coming a long?

Never seen a relay there before? Have you tested the machine to see if it work? It could possible be a anti-cheat thing installed by a casino?
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

Machine is in perfect running order. Except for the bell.
It's a first for me, so need to trace it out to see what its function is.

Is it possible that is a sealed relay and it is related to the operation of the bell?

Thanks to you finding the lucky 7 on C-List for me it is almost 100% completed less that pesky CA-lite that's not lighting even when I attach a 9 volt battery to the socket/wires. The bell was not working on this new addition but I found that the adjustment screw was backed out to far so I turned it in and it works great now.

Make sure one of the 2 wire tabs is not touching the base or the case
Swap bulbs to verify it works.

Hi Old Reno, yes I swapped out the bulbs, looked for any metal touching the case and re-soldered both connections. I am going to double check the connections on the coil relay contacts on the reel assembly.

Bill,

Not 100% on this, but I think the far right contacts upper and lower are either open or closed.
The bottom photo shows them both closed. Compare with your other machine.
Pretty sure these control insert and accepted lights.
But it is Sunday night, so could be mistaken.

Saw the B-25 fly over my ares, seemed like it was return from Van Nuys.
Pretty high up be could recognize the sound and shape.

yes I looked at both of the other Lowboys and the contacts are the same in each motion during play, thinking the upper contact is not completely flat like the lower one. The CAF PBJ B-25 was part of seventeen B-25 Mitchell bombers from around the country appearing at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Tokyo Raid and was returning home from a 2 week tour.
