New user with some questions about my current IGT Slots
« on: January 24, 2016, 12:56:00 PM »
Greetings NLG patrons!  I currently have two IGT machines, my first one is a 3 Reel Wild Cherry slant top (S+?) not positive. 2nd machine is a IGT I-Game Turkey Shoot.
I plan to add one more machine to the game room (IGT Game King) So here is my list of ignorant questions, please be kind lol
-Is the Wild Cherry an S+ or S2000?
-It has the DBV-200 validator with V2.40 firmware - can this be updated to accept new currency? I have the flash version, but would like to modify it for EPROM
-The I-Game has a WBA-12 with V3.75 firmware - also can this one be updated for the new benjamins?
-I plan to add the Bettor TITO board to the I-Game & Future Game King...is it possible to add a ticket printer to the S model? (I'm pretty sure it's not)
-How difficult is it to upgrade the I-Game to a new LCD display?
-The I-Game has alot of hiss and static white noise coming from the speakers all the time, is there something that can be done about that?
-I am also interested in upgrading the fluorescent lighting on all to led...some advice on that would be much appreciated.
I am sure some or all of these questions have been covered on here somewhere, I have been searching and reading for awhile now, but feel free to point me to specific threads if so.

Wild Cherry is an S+
DBV-200's last firmware update takes new $10, $20 and $50.  it does not take new $5's or new $100's (the version you have takes new $20's and the old bills).  I faintly remember people removing the flash chip and replacing it with a socket for eprom, but honestly, it is not worthwhile to pay the labor unless you have the skills to do it.  The S+ is no longer supported by any of the manufacturers of the internals, so new $10 will be the best you will ever do.  Switching the validator to a WBA 12/13 will get you new $5's but not new $100's.  That is just the nature of the beast with retired platforms.  I just keep old bills around for my S+.

The WBA-12 can be upgraded to new $100's.  You will need to send your validator to someone to have it flashed.  Although at this point, you can probably buy a transport with the new software for around $30.  Unless you know someone local who can do it for you, it will probably be cheaper to just get a new transport with the new software.

S+ does not work with TITO, it was IGT"s way of getting casino's to upgrade to S2000's as the S+ was so well built that you can even see some S+ still running in casinos today.

The igames are an easy upgrade to LCD since several manufacturers make drop in replacements.

I couldn't tell you about the hiss on an i-Game.  Mine has been converted to an 044 platform and I run iGames with the legacy adapter and have not noticed any hiss.  Did you know you can just put Gameking software on your machine?  Unless you want another cabinet, in which case it does not apply.  I would also suggest you get an upgraded 044 cabinet if you are going to go gameking, so you can just use 6.x software of even the Super Star Poker software, which is by far the best you can get on that platform.

Suzo Happ sells LED replacements of the flourescent light, there's even a system that is a diffused led lighting panel and spreads the light evenly throughout the glass so there are no hotstops.  They are pricey, but make your game look modern.

Thank you for your reply...Looks like it may just be time to retire the Wild cherry, maybe a reel/touch would be a better fit for my collection.
As far as the Game King goes I do indeed want another machine...I have space and provisions for three slots.
Do you have any recommendations on which LCD I should go with?
Also a good source for an updated WBA validator head?

There are many dealers that frequent this site.  If you post a WTB ad, you will probably get a response for the WBA transport.  Before you buy a replacement LCD, you need to know how many pins your current monitor uses in the black connector. Remove the monitor from the cabinet and count the number of pins in the connector the monitor plugs into.  There are 2 variants depending on the cabinet type you have.

Here's a pic of the monitor connector...I count 17 pins used, 19 molded openings in connector.

Yes, the other one is 25 pins, so if you want to buy a replacement, you need the monitor size and the 19 pin spec.  There are 3 common sizes 15" 17" and 19" for the IGT igames platform.

OK again thanks for your help...The model # on current monitor says KT17 and it measures around 16+" diagonal actual viewing area
So I'm assuming it's a 17"

There was a thread about protocol convertors for the S+
Basically you would use an S2000 compatible Bill Validatior - connect the protcol convertor inline and then it would change to the S+ protocol.
I haven't been able to locate any for sale but there are YouTube Videos demonstrating.
There was also a Thread about a PE+ machine that had a ticket printer (yesterday). The PE+ is the video poker equivelent of the S+. I suspect if it works for one it will work for the other.

Jay - I found this place that does make protocol converters for many different Validators  http://www.agaslots.com/index.html
It looks like it is possible to retrofit a WBA validator into an S+ and have it be able to accept the new $100 bills.
I would probably give it a go, but since I want ticket printing capability for all three of my machines I have decided to sell the
S+ and replace it with a newer S2000.

I have another question...the I-Game machine that I have came with a ticket printer and I have never tried using it before.
I decided to give it a try and loaded it with ticket paper. It fed the paper in and acted like it was happy, but when I go to the cashout menu
it still doesn't show up as an option. Am I missing something here?  Does the printer not work without a TITO board installed?

Greetings NLG patrons!  I currently have two IGT machines, my first one is a 3 Reel Wild Cherry slant top (S+?) not positive.......

I may have missed something but your Wild Cherry machine in your first photo looks like an upright, not a slant top??

I was told it was called a slant top when I purchased it...because the top is not flat, it slants down from front to back.

Below is what is commonly called a slant top cabinet style as far as I know. The term comes from the way the reel glass and player button panel is tilted at an angle.

OH NO!
There are wise-guys among us!      :fryingpan:

Anyway, snowcatter, if you do list the Wild Cherry for sale I wouldn't describe it as a "slant top", the upright machines are much, much more popular, take up less room and not nearly as heavy to move. [plus it really is an upright]   :garfield:

The machine can be enabled to print tickets. This requires a keychip if it's not already an enabled option, but it will not accept them back without a TITO board.

Yes, thanks for getting back on topic.  I have confirmed the thermal printer is disabled and I need the key chip to change that.
I have one on order :)
