Bally alpha
« on: July 13, 2016, 08:44:50 PM »
While doing ram clear on bally alpha to install green machine software after the game is loaded it goes to a call attended screen rather than the normal clear nvram etc screen.  Does anyone know why this is.  At that screen when key is turned while showing call attendentry the code errors that show once key is turned say game-mgr=429.  Media signature changed please clear nvram.   Turn attendant key to restart.  I do turn the key and the game restart loads and end at the same screen.

Are you using the clear card in the top slot?  It sounds like you are you are putting the clear card where the game card goes and leaving the os in the top slot?  Or you just switched the game cards before doing a clear first.

Clear card in top slot.  Game clears fine shows nvram cleared, Eprom cared Eprom successful.  I then pull the clear card and loads to show call attendant screen.  Turned key and shows gamemgr-383
Disconnect=5 then says turn key to restart game

I am assuming you are using the OS card on top and the game card on the bottom then.  What bios/os are you using for green machine, what was on the machine before?

It was lucky Luigi, new game bios,os,and game card number all match previous game #.  I replaced all anyway.  Should I try the old bios with the new green machine software...

There are two versions of green machine, one of the requires bios and os 3xx.  Which one do you have?  The one that starts with AVGxxxxxx will work with any bios, the one that is a 30xxxx will require OS 3xx with a bios that is compatible with it, the bios part depends on your mpu type.

I am unclear on how you are attempting to do this.  This is the procedure I use.

Power off.
Remove all CF cards from MPU.
Insert Clear CF card in top slot.  Power on. Boot up to the the black screen with white text that prompts you to turn reset key to perform the clear.  You get the 3 lines saying the clear process status.
Power down.
Insert OS card on top and new game card on bottom.
Power up. Boot game and configure.

The message you are getting usually means you replaced the game CF card without clearing the game.

I did not pull game cf card.  I attempted clear with the game cf in.  Would this give me that error code. And I hope I didn't not ruin my software.  I'm in a trial by fire process and stiff learning curve I will get to my shop and attempt to clear with only clear card and no game cf see if I get a different response.    I did however get the 3 lines saying the status of the clear was successful...therefore I thought I was on the right track.  Thank you in advance

If after doing the procedure that I detailed, you get the same boot error.  I would do a clear and try Luigi again to see if it works.

That usually means the clear card  you are using is the wrong one for the bios you have.  What bios is your machine and what clear card are you using?

Ok I green machine gave me same error after your procedure.   So I placed lucky Luigi with the bios that came with green machine ram cleared and where the call attendant was coming up on green machine "denomination not set" came up and went to programming stage.  So it was a successful clear and load for lucky luigi.  The following error still came up after that load with green machine.

What is your SJUR chip?  I've had this happened once where the jurisdiction was not approved for a game.  What is the AVG designator on your cf card.  Can you post a picture of it?

The avg and bios are the same as the old game on lucky luigi.  Not sure what the S jur chip is.  Is that the clear card???

I think I'm not being clear.  The AVG I'm asking about is the one that is printed on the game card, not the OS card (The os card is AVOS not AVG).  It can't be the same as Luigi since that is another game altogether.  The SJUR chip is a little 8 pin chip that designates the jurisdiction that your machine is under.  When you perform a clear, it will tell you the jurisdiction.  Post a picture of your clear screen to see what SJUR you have.

You have Pennsylvania SJUR.  Unfortunately I don't have Pennsylvania SJUR on my collection of SJUR chips.  I will try and load the Green Machine on my cabinet with your OS version to see if I get the same issues.  Will report back later tonight.

Ok, the game loaded fine for me.  But based on your previous screenshot of the error you are getting, I noticed that the background graphic while the game manager is loading is one of the really old bally load screens, which I faintly remember seeing in an old game that did not work for me.  Here's the screenshot of my cabinet while loading green machine, and with green machine running.  Compare the load screen with the one you posted and you will see the difference.  My Game CF has the same firmware ID that your CF card sticker shows, but based on the sticker you have, it appears to be an overwritten OEM card, which did not house the Green Machine game.  So my best guess at this point is that whoever sold you the game, did not flash the correct game code into the cf card and instead of green machine, you have whatever was originally written into that CF card and it is a game that is not compatible with your cabinet.  Probably an early central determination type game (Lottery Terminal type).  But that is just my best guess.
