IGT S2000 and Vision Games / Re: Qpc Simm Burner Help Needed
« Last post by rjpohl on Today at 11:23:46 AM »
You were right, tried a different simm and the r/o was replaced with a 0.  I was able to write, read and erase that simm.

On the igt simms there's usually a 4 digit number inside parenthesis, is that the checksum and if where can it be found after reading simm?

thanks

Problem NOT solved!

I let my game run for awhile without the Multimedia Lite sound board, and eventually the high-pitched hum returned, then I got power cycling again. :fryingpan:

So, I think it's the MPU board in general that causes the resetting. I put back in the original MPU, and it has not power cycled. It's just some MPUs that cause it. Others work fine.

The (r/o) means read only.  With the write enable plug on the simm hit the detect button and see if that goes away.  If it still shows (r/o) you may have a bad SIMM, try another one and see if it works.  I normally set the DIP switches for that the SIMM card will be when in the machine. e.i. all off for a sound SIMM.

It means you will have to reinstall the operating system, then reinstall the game, then boot the machine back up and reconfigure all game settings.

I have been able to connect the the 2 sets of pins on the write enable clip but I still get an error when I try to write to the simm.

Simm 0 (r/o)   0x0              16 MByte  (this line is there when I start)
00                  0x0              32 Mbit (2x8bit)   ERROR
01                  0x80000       32 Mbit (2x8bit)   ERROR

any suggestions, dip switch setting???

SG000293 is not compatable should be SG000239.
Thanks RB got the psr.
Are you burn capable?
The SG 239 still may not be compatable with the hard drive up top but won't know until we get MPU working for reel touch.
