Compatability of boards and CEI machines.
« on: March 04, 2015, 11:54:03 AM »
I'm selling one of my CEI "Gamblers Choice) 906III turbo MPU boards that I bought and tested recently. I got a question from a potential buyer who wants to know if it will fit in his CEI which I believe is not an upright machine. He's calling it a "drop in" but I'm assuming it's a slant top or equivalent.
I'm sure my board will work but he wants to change the game to the particular game that he has. I've never done a game change from one board to another. Can this be done?

1. Yes, CEI made "drop-in" machines, what we might today call a Bar Top. Extremely rare, especially since hobbyists rarely buy a drop-in; most want an upright "casino style" housing they don't have to figure out how to carve up their bar to use.

2. My impression is that a 906III Turbo board is a 906III Turbo board, and were used by other game makers besides CEI. Game software swaps should be no sweat. If I'm reading your post correctly, he has a 906III Turbo machine and simply needs a fresh board to install his current 906III Turbo game chips on. If that's true, he should (Oh, Lord, I hate that word should...) be OK, especially since his machine would have the correct button set already in place.

Funny... some else just bought the board, who had a different make video slot. "United Mfg" which I've never heard of. So he just did the buy it now and I've shipped it out already.
So thank you! I learned something new today. I thought those MPU's were exclusive to the CEI. Nice to know... I can change my next listing on ebay and probably get more looks and hopefully, buyers!  :applause:

I hope the "should" is a "will."  :rotfl:

I hate to "should" all over people!

United Coin Machine, a major slot route operator owned by Alliance Gaming, acquired what was left of CEI long ago
and continued to service, if not actually build, machines.Still in existence, they changed names again to that of their current owner Century Gaming Technologies just last year.

CEI and CalOmega stuff has appeared over the years bearing a whole slew of names, with an ownership history that
resembles a Byzantine family tree; not unlike so many other gaming equipment companies.
